Recovery of gallbladder surgery...

Recommended Posts

Hello, friends. I had my gallbladder removed friday morning && I've been doing a lot of walking to get rid of all Thai has in my body, but my calves have been killing me every time I get up. I'm just wondering if that's normal?

No it's not normal. It's imperative you go to the ER right now because if you do have post operative blood clots you need treatment immediately.

Btw, I spent 8 days in the ICU with life threatening blood clots just 3 months ago. Believe me, it's nothing to mess with and always best to be safe.

Best wishes.

Wow. I'm so sorry you went through that. I'm already in the E.R. They drew blood && now I'm waiting on the results. Thank you all! You made me come to the E.R.

I'm so relieved you're at the ER.

Not to sound pushy, but demand they do a Doppler of your legs, too. Mine was missed for over 2 weeks because no one bothered to do a Doppler until it was almost too late.

Let us know what happens!

Sorry to bug, but what were your symptoms?

Not bugging at all :)

I started with achy legs and eventually they started swelling. By the time they finally figured out I had blood clots, I was retaining over 40 pounds of Fluid all in my legs. They hurt so bad I couldn't even walk to the bathroom without crying.

In my case, I had blood clots in both legs, which is uncommon. Normally you see it one leg so everyone assumed it was something else when I had these symptoms bilaterally (both legs)

Wow. I have aches in both legs as well! Did they do an ultrasound on your legs at all?

Yes, a Doppler is just another name for an ultrasound.

That's how they finally found them. I had them so bad my legs were solid blood clots from my knees all the way up into my abdomen.

Good!! I'm probably just being paranoid because of my own experience, but I just don't want to see you (or anyone else) go through what I did.

I'll keep watching this thread for your updates :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
