Jaw pain post lap band

I was banded in 2008 but in the past year on four occasions and now I get jaw pain and I am thinking it is realted to the lap band. I had been to my medical doctor and everything was fine but it is strange and I was wondering does anyone else get jaw pain at times.

Why do yo think its is lapband related? do you get the pain after eating, or during eating? Sound more like a dental problem. (TMJ)Good luck, Karen

Sounds like TMJ maybe? I would talk to your dentist. I was banded on Aug 9th and have had a flare up of my TMJ ever since. I know it's caused by me clenching my jaw which I will do if in pain or uncomfortable. I'll also do it when I'm under stress. I usually take an anti-inflammatory like Alieve but I heard we weren't suppose to take meds like that. Tylenol doesn't help me at all. I go to my post-op appointment in two days so I'll find out then I guess. You could also try an ice pack. That helps me. Good luck!

I wonder too about the TMJ. Whenever I get really stressed over a long period I can develop it. I know that food is one of my primary coping mechanism so, not being able to cope = extra stress = TMJ, if I'm not careful.

I have it too, I have had headaches for years and finally last year my dentist asked me about biting down to hard and clenching my teeth at night. I try not to, but its very difficult. I have pretty bad jaw pain and headaches often. I think its like Guy said.. I'm not coping with stress with food like I used to. and I tend to stress about everything.. :-)
