  1. Well it could be his age. I don't know how old he is but he looks like he's up there. It's not unusual for ppl to have a major change in appetite as they age (as in late 70's, 80's and on).
  2. I'm so close to onederland and I can't wait! I think this will give me the motivation to make it through the holidays. Hmm.. maybe I should get really gross candy to hand out to trick r treaters. No chocolate for them! Ha!

    Guys...Im HANGRY!

I remember Day 5 was the worst for me. I don't know why but it just was. Also, the anesthesia stays in your system for awhile which doesn't help. Don't worry it will get better.
  5. Got a much needed fill yesterday of 1.5 cc's. Huge fill for me. Now on to losing this last 40-50 lbs!

  9. Whatever WLS someone chooses, if they think it's going to be a cake walk then they won't be as successful. I went into my surgery knowing I was going to have to work hard. I have my one year anniversary of getting my band in 3 days and I'm down 135 pounds.

    Do you tolorate Subway?

What's funny is that my doctor uses the 'Subway sandwich' test to gauge if you need a fill or not. The first thing he'll ask when going in for a fill is can you eat a 6 inch sub? If so, it's time for a fill. If you can only eat half then you don't need a fill. Very scientific stuff!! Luckily bread doesn't bother me bc I love a good sandwich.
  11. I had my lap-band with hernia repair done in August 2013. In December I started experiencing shoulder pain in my left shoulder that varied from being extremely painful to just annoying. I thought I had somehow injured it but then I noticed that lifting heavy stuff or overusing it didn't make it hurt any worse. Sometimes it wouldn't hurt at all. This went on everyday for four months. I know what nerve pain feels like and that's what I suspected. In looking into it I found there is a nerve that runs through your diaphram called the phrenic nerve. When that nerve is pinched or has a lot of pressure on it then it will cause pain in the left shoulder area. I'm not sure why I was having issues because when it started I had less than 2 cc's in my band, and I'm not sure why it stopped. I have talked to others with the lap-band who have experienced this same thing. It's definitely worth mentioning to your doctor!!!
  12. This is one of the most insane things I have ever read. Why does she keep saying cosmetic surgery. I didn't have wls with the intention of being thin and pretty. I loved myself even when I was 125 lbs heavier. I had to get this surgery to save my life. Sleep apnea, high blood pressure.. just to name a few. Even when I hit my goal weight I feel like I will always be a fat girl at heart and I definitely won't be judging people on how they look. Don't read that crap.. just hit delete and move on!!!

Yes! I do a mix of lap-band/exercise and just normal everyday life. I think I would get burnt out on it if it was all about wls. @_BSELLIS_
  14. I miss hot spicy food!! I still do a little hot and spicy but not like I used to since I can't drink while eating. I also miss Chinese buffets. Haven't been to a buffet since being banded because it's a waste of money.

Cheater! Lol! I don't think anyone would have gotten that from a picture of me with my dog. And btw I have been unsuccessful in teaching the dog how to talk

I'm assuming you work outside or you could work inside but have issues rolling your eyes at people..thus the sunglasses. Ok, one more try.. landscaper? or maybe cattle rancher? I think I'm terrible at this game.

    10 months post-op update

Well it's been 10 months now since my lap-band surgery. I'm doing well. The shoulder pain subsided. I just went for a fill yesterday. They only do about .3 cc's at a time because my band is very sensitive. I'm now up to 3.6 cc's in my 10 cc band. Not much but it is working for me. I'm now down to 240 lbs. This past week I've had 3 people at work that I haven't seen in a while tell me that they didn't even recognize me. It is a big change. Down 125 lbs from my highest weight. I am having an issue though. It's like my brain hasn't quite caught up with my body yet. I went on a little mini vaca with my husband and daughter on Memorial Day weekend to Eureka Springs, AR (fourth trip.. love this little town). As I was shopping I would look at something and think this won't fit me. And yet it is the size I'm wearing and it does fit. Also, we were walking the historic downtown with a couple of thousand other people and when I would walk up or down stairs I would wait until someone had passed me. This is what I used to do because I was afraid I wouldn't fit on the stairs with someone else trying to pass. Now, even though I probably would have fit back then, I know I would now and yet I find myself things my 360 lb self would do. Will I ever get past this?? Ugg!!!! Ok here is another thing that is bothering me. I have had many people make comments about now that I've lost weight I'm going to have guys flirting me or tell my husband that he needs to watch out bc I might leave him. WHAT? That is ridiculous! Ok I have heard of people who had lost a lot of weight and lost friendships, relationships, marriages.. When I got married 14 years ago I weighed about 180 lbs. My husband loved me then and at my biggest. Same goes for me. Those comments really get under my skin. So this is where I am now. Experiencing alot of emotional and psychological changes other than just physical changes at this point. This is an interesting journey. I'm still glad I bought the ticket and took the ride. Believe

Do you have a theme song for your journey?

I realized reading this topic that I do have a song that I sing in my head a lot especially since surgery. 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger..' Kelly Clarkson's Stronger

pain on left lower back to leg

I agree with GoWalking.. sciatic nerve. Mine is in my right leg. It's much better than it used to be but I still have flare ups. I would check with your doctor for sure. Unfortunatly we can't have advil but maybe you can get a prescription anti-inflammatory. Also, don't use heat. Most people normally go for the heating pad for back pain. Not good for sciatica because it makes it more inflammed. Use ice packs for 20 minutes at a time every hour or as needed. Muscle relaxors help too. Good luck. Hope u feel better.
