Sooooo this Summer I have been totally focusing on myself, and making a better lifestyle for myself. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op, and since school is coming up rapidly I need to go shopping for some new clothes, Ive lost around 40 lbs so far, but I def. know that I will loose more, or at least I hope I continue to. So if I am continously shrinking I don't want to spend a ton of money on clothes.. I mean it's already been the most money dwelling Summer ever with a 20,000$ surgery sooo yeah any ideas???...thanks Chloe

Thrift stores and the clothing exchange on this website are perfect. Don't invest a lot of money in clothing right now! If you go to the mall, check the clearance racks first, your size will be changing at least monthly and you don't want to throw away money on things you'll only get to wear a couple of times.

I've only spent about $50 on clothes but that was enough for 15 pieces. Shop wisely and buy interchangeable pieces, you'll look fine - no one knows that it didn't come out of your own closet.

I agree with the posters above, all very good suggestions.

What I've also started doing it buying a season in advance. For instance, whatever winter stuff that's in the store in July is from last season. They want to get rid of it before this year's stuff comes in this fall. So, I've been buying clothes as I see them in deep discount this summer. I've been buying a size smaller than I currently am because I know I'll be smaller by then. I recently bought 5 really nice sweaters for about $50 total. Just one of them would have cost me close to that if it weren't on sale.

...and this winter, I'll be buying summer stuff on sale the same way.

Goodwill, Plato's Closet, Kohl's with a 30% coupon...

With all the coupons and discounts at Kohls, you can buy a ton of stuff for less than $100!

The last time I lost 90 pounds, I went to places like Marshall's and Ross. I picked up pants for less than $20, and tops for $10. I did this as my size dropped down, until I got to my end.....which was a size 6. Then I went and bought clothes at Macy's or other places. Marshall's was still fine, but the wardrobe world opened up, being in a single digit size. NOW, this time around, I go shopping in my own closet :P I've got everything from a size 6 to a 22. My goal isn't to get back into the 6's, but I'll be happy as a clam to be a size 10.

In the men's section at Kohl's you can usually get some wearable stuff on the discount racks at 60-80% off. Add that with a coupon and it is a score even if it is for just a short time. On purpose I got a pair of really ugly pants that would feel at home on the golf course 1 size smaller than I am now for about $3.50. Looking forward to wearing them just to get noticed. :)

ask friends! or, do what I did. post on here, see if there is anyone in your area and become friends!! She has gotten all of my old clothes! But ross is good, sometimes craigslist, clearance racks at the stores ect. I was losing sizes so fast at first, I was changing pant sizes like every other week. Day of surgery (end of Jan. this year) I was a 24/26 and now i'm a 12/14 Just buy a little at a time!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
