You are losing! Just remember every pound lost is gone forever! This is not a sprint but a lifetime marathon to being healthier! You will get there.

Reminder: try to cut out the Snacks as much as possible. You will find this easier as you get closer to your "Green Zone". Go back to the basics if you have to - 3 small meals a day and 1 snack. 64 oz of Water

I have to remind myself every day to get enough water. Usually when I feel like snacking, water does the trick to curb the snack attack. A Protein Bar in the afternoon is my only snack now and it does a great job of curbing hunger until dinner. Sometimes I have it as an early 11am snack and have a later lunch if I feel like snacking...that also works.

Good luck with your journey!

Thanks for the advice Debbie...I guess I am just so used to snacking because even with all my other fills I have always just snacked but I am seeing what you mean about not needing it. Today is my first day on real foods after the fill because my doc put me on liquids for 48 hours after my fill and so I had my first meal today at 1pm (work late and woke up late hence the late breakfast/lunch) and I had a cup of food and was full and now I am here at work and pulled out some almonds to snack on and after like 6 I felt the restriction...so yeah. I will for sure have train my body not to snack :) Thanks.

Sometimes I get discouraged because I miss getting to just relax and enjoy a meal... I posted this blog today about it.

I would love to know if anyone else feels the same way sometimes and how you get past it?

Hi guys! Time for another check in:

After my unfill in December due to tightness in the chest, I have been struggling with the same 5 lbs or so (at least it feels that way). Today I finally got back for a small fill of 0.5. Doc agrees and wants to be conservative and not lead me back to the ER. I sure hope not this time! But I've been very very hungry and can eat just about anything, so it's time. Doc kept asking me if I could eat bread, but I said no, because I don't want it! LOL I am hoping that this little fill will take more of the hunger edge off.

I am meeting some of my goals: First, I've been more active at the gym, and now can run up to 5 minutes without stopping! I'm up to week 5 on the couch to 5k program, which ramps up to a 20 min run by the end of the week--so we'll see if I can do it on the first try. If not, I just try again the next time. I'm learning to be flexible like that.

Second, I went to the outlets and just to daydream a little, I went into a regular sized people store and I fit into an XL!! WOOOOOO!! I started in a 3x and now XL? Yeah, baby, yeah!!! lol

In other news, I have been bad and let a little sugar sneak back in to my diet, so this week I am cleaning it up (24 hrs on liquids after a fill will help!) and saying good bye to it again.

How is everyone doing?

great job!! sugar will always be a problem for me...I have banned it again for 2 weeks to see if I can do it. Still struggling to get under my next 10 lb goal.

Also, I went for a "Difficult" 2.5 mile hike last monday with the boyfriend. We were climbing over boulders 4 ft tall and crawling through bushes just like Louis and Clark. But on Tuesday, my muscles in my legs really felt it! been pretty sore for past couple days but started back walking again today.

And, wedding day fast approaching in 8 more days so the excitement of it all is creeping in now...and the nerves over everything going well and all tasks being done...lol

hope all my band friends are doing well!!

hey every one. i had totally lost track of this tread. good to see folks are still on track.. I'm still struggling to lose it seems that i only lose right after a fill then i am up and down the same 2 lbs till the next fill. over all i am seeing a steady decrease but it is really frustrating for the 3 wks of the month. i only eat 3 meals a day. however the snaking has gotten a little out of control lately as the slow loss is really starting to get to me. . On a NSV side of things i played a few games of bowling last night.. normally it is one game and i'm out - usually my back starts to cramp about the 5th frame and by the 10th i'm barely bowling.. last night i didn't feel a thing not that my game improved any :) .

hope you all stay healthy happy :D

I feel your pain. I am the same...I guess it's in our nature to want quick results. But eventually we WILL lose it! We must! We didn't go thru all this for nothing.

I am 2.4 lbs away from being under another 10lb goal. Hoping to get there before Saturday...MY WEDDING DAY!

Hey everyone!

I have been having major problems with my band. Some days I can eat normally, but most of the time I can't even drink a yogurt smoothie without throwing it back up. I have been trying to eat the same things, but somedays I can't eat what I ate just fine the day before. I have been exercising more and I have not lost any weight. Last Saturday I spent an hour and a half swimming and then I spent an hour on weights and walking. I actually gained what little weight I had lost since Christmas back.

I have not had a fill since the beginning of December. All these problems have started in the last few weeks. I am tired of being afraid to eat for fear of it coming back up. I tried eating at a Chinese restaurant Saturday and I was only able to have maybe 6 toddler size bites that I chewed to mush before I started hiccuping and had to run to the bathroom. It took me almost 15 minutes to eat those 6 bites. No matter how slow I eat or how small the bite is and how well I chew it still comes back up. It happened with just about everything at one time or another, even Jello.< /p>

I am going to get an appointment with my new doctor and talk to him about these problems. Has anyone else experienced this? I am starting to think I may have to get the sleeve instead of the band if I can't find out the problem.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
