Had surgery Monday, when is the gas from my belly going to go down. It is so full, had and uncomfortable. I feel bigger than I did pre surgery.

Finding myself drinking a lot faster and more then 1 oz every 10-15 minutes. I am hoping I haven't messed my pouch up.

Carrie.. I am feeling the same way. I can drink 10-12 oz of Fluid in no time. I feel no restrictions. I even ate a small bowl of oatmeal today..chewing completely before swallowing and still nothing.

I'm having the same fear as u...I think I will call dr tomorrow to understand. ..

I am having such issues...banded on the 30th and have been achy & in pain. Can't get comfortable. So thirsty all the time and it seems as though every time I sip on Water or tea it is even worse. Gas strips have NOT helped. I feel like i am going out of mind. I hear everyone else healing and having minimal issues.

Oprah, day 3 was the worst for me. After day 3 I felt better each day. The port site is still a bit tender a little over 2 weeks later but it's nothing unbearable. Hang in there!!

Sorry to hear of you troubles. I have heard that the gas strips didn't work so i got the chewable and they have worked for me. Drinking warm tea and broth while using a heating pad on my tummy has really released the gas. Also swishing the liquid around in my mouth before swallowing helped my thirsty feeling. Hang in there it will get better!

Gas X just doesn't work for some people. Try Phazyme. I've heard that works when Gas X won't. It will get better!

Hang in there Oprah. I have been feeling the same way. Gas pressure started to go down today and hopefull each day will get better. I have been using the Gas X strips but think I will try the chewable tablets today. Also using heat on my back and ice on my belly. My surgery was the 30th as well. We can do this!!

It does get better. It's been 1 week for me and I'm starting to feel somewhat better. I even went for a nice walk yesterday.

It really does get better! Take things slow. Everything from drinking to eating to walking. Moving around will help. I have literally listened to my body and followed the way I feel when it comes to moving forward - one day at a time. And I feel pretty good. I have lost 9 lbs since surgery one week ago today. I am still on full liquids for another week or so then maybe mushy foods. I don't have another appt until Nov 6 and then I may get my first fill. So far so good! Hope the weight loss continues going this well!!

My doctor says the gasX or other over-the-counter gas meds will not really help since the gas is not running through your intestinal track but is literally in between your organs. The only real way to deal with it is the heating pad, pain meds, and walk, walk, walk. I wish I had better news...sorry

Oprah Lynn, when do you see your surgeon again? If you feel something is wrong, let him know immediately.

I feel better also because I stopped taking the meds and am just doing Tylenol. Much better. No drugged feeling anymore. I saw my doc today and he ripped off the steri strips. Yeeeouch! But I am healing nicely he said. Also on to stage 2 diet. No mushies til the 14th.

I am going to attempt working tomorrow. It will be a light day. Doc ok'd me to do so, and to drive. Wish me luck! I figure since it is Friday, then it should be easier, and if I need Sat and Sunday, I've got'em.

PS Thank goodness for Gas X. It is helping so much with the rumbling in my tummy.

Really? so the gasX is for the rumbling not the pain from the left over gas in your torso?

I get to see my doctor tomorrow. I can't wait to get these steri strips off... Good luck with work tomorrow! Go slow and if you sit at a desk, don't sit for too long without getting up and walking a bit. I had to learn the hard way...lol

I found that out today also the hard way. I worked on homework for to long without moving around enough. I am now sitting in the recliner with my heating pad.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
