3rd day out - Ive lost 5 lbs in 4 days. Had no pain meds today and went to a memorial service and drive thru Red Rock outside Las Vegas. I think I am ready to go to work tomorrow.

this was day 5 for me. overall, i feel great. very little pain of any kind. occasionally there's a little discomfort/gas pain. i feel like i want to burp or hiccup but can't.

actually, my biggest annoyance is that i'm really, really hungry. yesterday was my first day on all liquids, and i had a smoothie. today, i've had at least 800 calories of juice/smoothies/soup and stillllll hungry. guess i'll be making that first fill appointment asap.

also, i'm retaining Water and i've actually gained about 5 lbs since surgery. i don't feel backed up or anything. but i wasn't on any pre-op diet, so i was ingesting plenty of calories right up till surgery, but it's been 6 days since i've had a bm. sorry if tmi. i'll probably roll out the milk of magnesia if nothing changes by tomorrow.

are you getting enough Protein? I am putting tasteless Protein Powder in my apple juice and crystal light. It really does add up!

Today is day 4 post op. Really the oh pain I have is on my largest incision because that is where he went in to repair the "huge" hiatal hernia. Been taking liquid lortab maybe twice a day, going to try and not take it tonight, just this morning. Having a hard time getting in enough Water. Get really full with just a couple sips.

Good luck to you both who are having surgery today! You will do fine! I managed to get up and go to work today. Sitting at my desk now (thank goodness I have an office job!).

I have officially lost 8.4 lbs since Thursday! I did not expect this much weight loss and I am getting 100 grams of Protein a day. I hope this keeps up! However, my stomach did growl twice yesterday so I think I'm waiting too long to eat something... I need to work on scheduling better....

My pants are sitting right across my belly button which is quite bruised from that incision so it hurts the most but not so much I can't handle it...let's see how the day goes...

How are you getting in your 100 grams? I'm struggling to get in half of my 110 at this point.

The tasteless Protein powder. I put 1 - 2 scoops in almost anything liquid that I take in. 2 scoops in a 10 oz glass of crystal light = 12 g. 2 scoops in a 10 oz glass of watered down apple juice is 13 g. 2 scoops of protein = 12 g. so I can add that to anything... It changes the way the drink looks but not how it tastes.

Back home and not doing bad. I have a little pain but it is manageable. Sipping my liquids every 15 minutes. I woke up from surgery starving, but had to do the swallow test before I was able to have some chicken broth. You know you are starving when you want more of that nasty drink for the swallow test. lol

Congrats! Glad everything went well! Keep making progress...I've been pretty hungry today and so I called my dr to see if I could try a Protein Shake and he said yes! So, the chocolate Protein shake tasted delicious but still having hunger pains. Pushing on...

Out and up in my hospital room. Not much pain, only when getting in and out of bed, but I know I am on pain killers, so who knows how it will be later. Port, at belly button, hurts bad when moving to get up. I'm so glad it's done and soon my daughter and husband will be at my side. Surgery was at 2pm, and I've slept quote a bit. Good. Gotta go, ice chips await!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
