July 25th New Date- anxious and nervous

Recommended Posts

So my new surgery date is July 25th. I am starting my liquid diet today and I am very nervous. It may be because my family isn't very supportive. How are some of you overcoming the negative feedback from family and friends? Because it is making me want to do this alone

I'm sorry you lack the support of those closest to you, but I think that is the reason this forum was created. We are our own community of supporters for those who don't have it otherwise. Although we can't reach out and touch you, please know that we are rooting for your success. Find a support group in your area and attend meetings just so you have that person-to-person contact with people that have the same goal as you and likely the same issue of not having the support of their loved ones.

I am fortunate in that many people who know me said that "you don't need that surgery" but they still support me and are proud of my progress. Still others became very curious about having the procedure done themselves. Once they see how well you are doing they will sing a different tune. Regardless, this is your life, this is your health and you only get one go-around so you owe it to yourself to do whatever is in your power to ensure the best quality of life that you can. The band is by far the best thing I've done for myself next to earning my degree and becoming a mother.

You are not alone...you have the entire LBT community behind you, use us!

My surgery is July 22nd and as the date approaches I do feel more nervous than ever. There are some people in my family that don't approve of what I am doing, but after a lot of time to dwell on it I've decided that I had to put my foot down and rely on only the ones who want to be supportive. I feel like as time passes it will get easier, I hope the same for you! Always remember that most people on the site have or will be going through the same thing, so support from everyone else helps as well! I'm super excited for you and wish you all the success. :D

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
