So I've been kicking around the lap band idea for a while now. I am 5'2"and currently weigh in at 260lbs. My back hurts, my hips hurt, my knees hurt, my feet hurt. I don't know how I came to be this way at 34. PCOS plus pregnancy 5 years ago started the ball rolling. It seems over the years the harder I try to lose. ... the more I gain. So. ... I've gone and done IT. I've scheduled my lap band procedure. I start my Protein diet on Monday the 1st. I was told I can have unlimited Protein shakes and eat only Protein. I'm not 100% sure I can do it. ..but I'm gonna give it my all. I hope I can find support here as no one in my family would approve. I come from a long line of short round women who just accept it as a way of life. I don't want to be this way and I'm doing something about it.

If anyone else starts their journey on July 25 maybe we can walk this road together.

Wish me luck. I'm doing this first for myself and second for my 5 year old son. I'm a single mom and I have to be here for him because I'm all he has.

Good for you!! We are all here for you. This forum is fantastic and very supportive. You can do it! I'm in pre op stage now day 3 and down 7 pounds already since Monday. Band date July 9. It's not easy by any means and I work for a fast food chain. So its really hard. If I can do it so can you. Good luck!!

My procedure is for July 31st. I'm anxiously nervous. I am doing it for my 3 kids. I'm 5'3 and after gaining and not losing weight from pregnancies I am so miserable at my current weight . I hope this surgery gets me to my goal of 140. My knees and back also always hurt. I feel huge and awful and I can't stand it anymore. I haven't shared my weight with anyone im too embarrassed not even family or hubby know my weight and only my parents and husband know about surgery.

Maybe we can do this together. The only one in my family that knows about my surgery is my sister and she only knows because she's driving me home that day.

That Girl 79

I am doing the same thing as you! The only person knows is my sister for the same reason cause I need someone to drive me there and back. I told my boyfriend that I am having hernia surgery cause he is going to miss out for a lil while and I am not ready to share that I'm having WLS. I will once the weight starts to come off but I'm just not ready to share that now with the people that know me....so I understand why you are going that route.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
