Does this ever happen to anyone beside me? I had a fill last week and it seemed to be fine, but last night I had some issue due to congestion and my sinus. Now my mouth is watery and I have to swallow every few seconds and last night I had white foam coming up. I think I may have messed up because I tried to drink a cup of mountain dew, but that afternoon it was still difficult to eat anything. I did not have any issues like this last week.

It sounds like you were "sliming" which is what happens when something is stuck, the mouth waters and foams trying to lubricate your passages to get the blocked out.

I would stay away from carbonated beverages - did you Dr say it was ok to have soda? A lot of ppl here say their Dr and Nut. take it out of their diet completely.

If this keeps happening you can stand upright with yoru hands over your head and walk around for a little while to see if it subsides. I suggest you call your Dr and see if he wants you to come in.

It sounds like either you're too tight or something has seriously irritated the band. The Mountain Dew was a really bad idea because carbonation is a big no-no anyway.

I would give your doctor a call. A good friend of mine had the foaming problem and she had to have some Fluid removed from her band to make it stop.

Best wishes

Just want to say that not all drs say no to carbonation. My dr is fine with it as long as I don't have any trouble with it. I mostly drink carbonated Water and an occasional diet coke. Double check with your dr regarding it because it's not always off limits. However, if this is the reaction you had due to it, I would want to avoid it! Good luck :-)

My dr. Also said carbonation was okay as long as I poor it in a glass over ice and let it "fizz out" for a bit. Too scared to try it though.

Sound like you may need a tiny defill. I would check with your doctor.

I was told no carbonated beverages at all... but each doctor is different. I did try it twice over the past 7 years and both times I thought I was going to die... NEVER again.

No, I haven't gotten one yet. I have been monitoring myself. The foam has subdued, but now I keep burping. I think with my fill I have to re train myself to eat because I have been able to eat more choices than when I began my lap band journey. One other thing does menstrual cycle cause your band ti be tight.

My surgeon is a lap band patient and he drinks diet coke once a day. He stir it to get most if the carbonation out.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
