I'm having my surgery on 6-26 and had to have my surgeon fax in a letter so I could take a leave from work. When he faxed it in he put I couldn't return for a month! From 6-26 to 7-24. I sit at a desk and talk on the phone all day, not light lifting or doing anything. I called and questioned him on it and the nurse says we tell people they need to stay home from work 2-4 weeks. But in my pre-visits I always thought it was 7-10 days. I am having an esophageal hernia fixed at the same time but that should be the only variance from the norm. Work won't let me come back till the doc releases me, so I’m hoping that he will let me go back before then. Has anyone else ran into this?

Wow! I had my surgery on a Thursday (band with plication) and I went to a wedding on Saturday. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't tearing up the dance floor or anything but still I felt well enough to go. Then I went to work on Monday. I don't understand a whole month. A week would be plenty I think. In fact I think it is helpful to get up and start moving as soon as possible.

You might explain to your Dr. that your work won't let you come back for that length of time and you would prefer to return earlier.. I think at least a week would be okay since you are not doing anything physical.. I am lucky in that I work at home but I felt tired mostly the first week... good luck..

They told me about a week but count on working half days for a week after that because I will be tired

I'm June 26th too! My surgeon suggested 2 weeks and said if I want longer he would write it that way too. He said if I feel well enough sooner I could go back. He is really leaving it up to me. I would talk with your surgeon before and after and ask to return if you feel up to it.

When is your first post-op follow-up scheduled with your doctor? If you're doing good, I'm sure he'll write a note for you to go back earlier.

my dr originally wanted me back 8 weeks out...in the end it was only 6 ( i had a trip at the end of may or i would have pushed for a week sooner) however i am glad i had those weeks off because for the first 2-3 i wouldn't have been able to do much at work anyway

I had Lapband with plication and also a hernia repaired. I needed two full weeks and then only went in Thursday/Friday and was glad to have the weekend. I have a desk job but work can be quite busy and stressful.

When you're ready to go back go in and have your doctor write you a release.

I was banded on Thursday along with a hernia repair, I like you thought after reading many posts that I would only need a week for recovery. After all I was driving three days after a complete hysterectomy... Um think again! I'm just now able to move! Lol I will take my entire week and might ask my Doc for another week! It's not so much the LapBand as the size and complication of the hiatal hernia repair! On the bright side I won't need my Prilosec or three huge pillows to sleep!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
