How Many Fills Before Green Zone

Recommended Posts

I was banded January 10, 2013. Weighed 273 lbs. My current weight is 220. Have had 5 fills and still have not reached green zone. How many more fills will it take? What is the number of fills has anyone had before reaching green zone?

Hi Peaches, I was banded one day after you and I've had 8 fills. I'm finally in the green zone, but everyone is different as you know. Great job on your loss so far! :)

I was banded Oct 2012 and it took 4 fills.Last fill was the end of May.

I had to have port revision at 3mths out, so that delayed my fills for an added 6wks.

Also no fill at time off LBS.

It takes a while, but it's worth the wait.

You're doing great. Hang in there!

Definitely going to vary depending on the person and amount of each fill, but based on the posts I've read, the average seems to be 4 or 5.

I'm in the green zone with 3 fills, but they were pretty big fills. At 4.6 CC, the band was giving me almost no help. At 6.0 CC it has drastically decreased my appetite.

All bodies are different. I have only 5. cc in a 10 cc band, and I am at "green". So, only your body will know. But, once you hit it, you are necessarily going to stay there. You can go "red" easily if you are not careful with your fills! Best wishes!!!!

It all depends on how much they are giving you at each fill and what you sweet spot it- you don't know til you get there.

I was banded April 29th with 4cc in the band at the time of surgery, 4 weeks later- May 28th, they added 1cc, then 4 weeks after that, yesterday, they added another full cc. So, I'm currently at 6cc's. My Dr said typically between 5 & 7 should put me in the Green Zone. So, fingers crossed!

Good luck!

everyone is different, myself and several others have not needed a fill at all, and their are others that need several, before i had surgery i had resigned myself to the idea of not being in the green zone for a year, i'm lucky, chin up you'll get there. :)

Unfortunately no one can answer your question for you. Everyone is different and it all depends on you and your anatomy.

Some people are in the Green Zone with no fills- they're obviously the lucky ones.

I only have 5.2cc in my band and I'm very much in the Green Zone. The first time I hit the Green Zone I had only 4.9cc in my band and that was after 4 fills- but then as I lost weight my stomach shrunk so I needed a little more.

Be patient, it will come.

I've had 5 fills for a total of 9cc in a 14cc band and I do not think I am in the green zone. I go next week and I am hoping and praying that my dr will give me another small fill. I think I'm close but I know I'm not there. He's getting nervous about continuing to give me fills, which I appreciate, but I'm still ravenous and battling hunger all the time. Maybe this next time will be the elusive green zone? But I also think that the green zone is ever changing as our stomachs change. Just like this whole weight loss challenge, it's constant work and almost always on my mind. But progress is being made and that makes me so happy!

Your comments are so helpful I was banded in April and just received my third fill two days ago. I am really feeling no different yet. Is this normal? I have felt nothing that I would call restriction.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
