I've been reading about people sleeping in their recliners after surgery. I am having surgery Thursday (6/20) and now I'm freaking out that I won't be able to sleep as I have no recliner. Eek! Tell me I'm being lame.

Hi. Don't worry!! I'm 1 week post op and I've been in my bed the whole time. I have lots of pillows including a body pillow. Honestly sleeping flat on my back or side (day4 and not on port side) is the most comfortable. Even on the couch I lay flat! ???Š

Oh my gosh! I'm glad you mentioned body pillow! I just added it to my "list". Thank you for the "don't worry" I feel better.

I wouldn't imagine lapbandsters have as much of a need for a recliner to sleep as other WLS, such as the sleeve. I slept in a bed from the get go and, other than not being able to roll over on my port side for about a week, there wasn't a problem. Being tired post-surgery makes it easy to sleep!

I am with the other posters, I slept in a normal bed - I had forgotten about the sleeping on your non port side :)

Yeah, I slept on my back and in my bed. Like someone else mentioned, being tired post surgery plus any pain medication will make sleeping easier :)

I did not get out of my recliner because it was necessary to stay there.....I stayed there because it felt good to stay there, in front of the big screen, covered in a comforter, (Jan), sipping my broth, and thoroughly numb from all the good drugs....I don't think I could have gone anywhere else.....

I slept in my recliner (it has electric button to raise the foot part).. It wasn't too long before I was sleeping normally in my bed though...

I was in the reg bed and slept on my stomach (my normal position). I believe I had so much stomach fat that I couldn't feel my port area and it wasn't not uncomfy in the slightest..

I had no problem sleeping in my bed. The trick is crawling in on your hands and knees (after hysterectomy was taught this). I slept on side with a pillow around my stomach for support. When you get out of bed, roll out.

Only time I slept in refliner was after taking pain meds and just happen to fall asleep, the couch would have worked too.lol

I slept in my bed too! I slept in my normal positions side to side and back. When on my sides I tucked a pillow between the bed and my side to help support my belly to keep tension from pulling on the port and did just fine.

I had surgery on the 13th. Last night was the first night I slept in my bed. I chose my recliner due to gas discomfort. It was, for me, the most comfortable place.

The recliner was the way to go for me. If I wouldn't have had it then I would go with bed our couch with lots of pillows to prop up.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
