Jack wanted to see the recent Star Trek film today...not my choice, but it is Father's Day.

We also ordered all of the appliances for the kitchen today. Everything shows up in July...that will be a busy month.

Busy is better than bored...and thinking too much.

Good Morning everyone, Happy Monday,

I have an appointment at 9:30 in the morning in Asheville. With the help of the carafate, I was able to sleep through 6 hours uninterrupted, though it was propped up on pillows.

Michelle, good to read that yo are staying with the exercise. I need to do that too. Right now we are at an impasse of sorts, until the new kitchen is installed.

Morning all! I finally lost a pound last week! Now just 3 more back to my doctor's goal of 179 and 7 to my goal of 175. The walking and logging of food shall continue!

Diane... looks like a nice party. I am sure you had a fun day! After showing you picture to my hubby he has decided yours is a jerk if he thinks you look old! LOL

Doreen sounds like a fun weekend for your bunch. Kids always love summer!

Janet... wishing you a great week of quilting and relaxing with no surprises!

Carole... hope your reflux is settling down. It is truly amazing what our emotions can do to our bodies!

Cawa... enjoy you last week of time off!

Dawn.... hope things are settling down for you as well.

Michelle.... Batman eh! well have a quite week and study hard!

I find myself torn...I know that I need to continue progress with the house, but I also want to exercise.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great rest of the day, now that it is nearly afternoon.

Good morning, Ladies!

How is everyone? I survived Father's Day at my dad and stepmom's yesterday. Only a few insulting comments/digs from my stepmother. I loved hearing from my sister that she was making digs about my gram, mom, dad's sister, and my ex to my sister. She is such a hateful woman but acts fake to everyone's face most of the time. My dad is actually a very nice guy on his own; however, he doesn't say anything with her comments and ignores them and so I blame him equally for not standing up to her EVER. Oh well, it went fine for the most part. I spent the afternoon having Dawn time and hanging out w/ my bff catching up on our lives and some sun! I am down 3 of the pounds I put back on. I was down to 204, then got up to 213 (UGH!) and am back down to 210. I am feeling a little better about it. My sister-in-law made a yummy casserole for my dad's yesterday and only put a little bread in it and made it mostly with egg whites. I have to get her recipe for that. :) I could make it in muffin tins and have some yummy stuff ready to go.

Diane, I loved seeing the party pictures a) you seriously look GREAT!! and you looked happy B) FABULOUS cakes you made! c) your grand daughter and daughter are beautiful ladies, like their mama d) OMG, how cute your dog had a party and cake too!!! LOVE IT. They really are like our kids. I love my dogs to pieces and esp with Audrey working all the time for summer and Brad gone, they are great company for me and always happy to see me! ♥ I am so sorry about how things have evolved with your mom and can only imagine how hurtful and stressful that is. I do hope you can get a break here and there before it makes you totally lose your mind. I am so excited you, Terri and Carole will be able to meet up soon. :)

Carole, the kitchen and unpacking will be there and you have all the time in the world to unpack and get it organized. IMHO, I think exercising would be a great idea. I know I feel so much better when I do, maybe just the endorphin release but it really does help my pysche and I feel better that I did something for myself. So glad you were able to sleep last night too! That had to be a relief. I was wondering, do you still have your gallbladder? I have heard some people with similar issues and it was also gallbladder related. Just a thought as I am obviously nowhere near a medical professional. :)

CTwin, I am soooo proud of you! You really are an amazing and strong woman and I love your wit! You really help motivate me to get off my duppa and get more exercise in!!! Your baby is really growing up! Don't blink or he will be off to college like my "baby". I am struggling a bit with my upcoming move too. I am excited about it but feel bad "leaving my kids". It's only an hour flight but Audrey likes to make comments (her passive aggressive side) that I am "leaving her". :( It will all work out just stressful in the meanwhile.

CMom, how are you doing? How was your weekend? Were you able to dote over hubby for Father's Day? :) That's so sweet about your SIL missing his MIL. It's cuz EVERYONE loves you!!! Good to know you are not too far from Ft. Meyers, btw... hmmmm. Pool party and Ange and Evans!!!

Dee, we are still waiting for pics of the new sundress - hee, hee. :) How's it going w/ school out and the kids home?

Nicole, nice that you get to be off for your birthday this week!!! Churros and beer for everyone! JK. Enjoy your special day!! Also, enjoy this last week off!!! Hope yesterday was fun w/ your parents.

Terri, yay for being down another pound and yay for being able to stay focused and motivated. :) Any trips coming up? I cannot wait to see the new quilt you are working on.

Have a great day, Ladies!!!

All I can say is, I have great twins!!!! They both so smart and funny. I love them both so much!

They pretty much addressed everyone with what I would have said, so ditto what they said.

I don't know if this is possible, but I think Dawn's stepmom and mine are the same person. Either that or they're related like my cgirls and I.

Yes, unpacking and organizing will wait. Exercise as easy as walking can help reduce stress.

Carole, Right now, your trip to Drs is on my number 1 prayer list, along with Maddy, she's seeing a new GI Dr today, which she needs a great Dr. Her best GI Dr is in Ohio. So prayers for great Drs for two of my favorite ppl.

Terri and Dawn, congrats to you both on getting the scale going in the right direction. I knew you could do it.

Yes, Michelle is a great motivator!

Nicole, I keep meaning to tell you, I love your post on Pinterest. You too, have a sense of humor like the rest of this family.

Enjoy your last week off. I can't believe we waited forever for your surgery and now your 4wks post op, what gives.

I hope you have a wonderful birthday, no beer and churros, but a small slice of cake would not hurt.

Dee, I hope everything is going as well as to be expected, with a house full of kids, goats, chicks and horses.

I'd like to see that new sundress too. I love sundress and moomoo's, especially when I'm home for the day and the bra comes off.lol

Di, Prayers for a great week for you. Things will get better. Hang in there and know we all love you.

I've been up since 1am, got the house all cleaned and now on the way to grocery store. Quilting later, maybe.

Tomorrow FINALLY having my gray colored, I so excited!!!!

If I forgot someone, forgive me, I gray.

I love you all and wishing you all a great start to the new week.

TTYL

XOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Carole, I vote for some exercise some place quiet and away from the house, without Jack. Not that I have anything against Jack, but you are showing classic signs of needing me space and time. If you happen to also get in some exercise, great! You will be in the house for a long time, so It will wait. Take a break for yourself. It is what YOU would tell us to do!

Teri, you are correct. This is a major adjustment for both of us, and before Jack retired, I had a separate life. I made and kept my appointments, had a network of friends, and kept in contact and attended lunch dates.

Now, I've only driven my car 1 time since arriving here 5/23. It has been out of the garage only 1 time. Typical, Jack prefers to drive when we go anywhere.

I need to learn a bit more about the roads here on the mountain...which I am in the process of doing. Then I will insist on driving myself to my appointments, as I have always done.

The only constant in life is the process of change.

The last paragraph should be interesting...I can't see any text!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
