Awesome' date=' we are all here! So happy we are all together again, and drama free zone. I would like for us to try and be supportive of each of our personal goals for WL with the band, we got a little side tracked before and some of us struggle daily and never say a word so lets get this party started. I go see my WLS tomorrow evening at 4pm, he has not seen me for 6 months, think he will be surprised.[/quote']

You're walking business card that's for sure.

OK I am wide awake! Staying at Mama's tonight, we have an early morning doctor appointment. Mama feel yesterday, what a week, state survey and in the middle,,, my mom calls. She is crying, she has fallen and afraid she has killed the babies, i.e. the babies meaning the singing bear and her snow tiger. OMG, so off I go, call hubby, he beats me to her apartment and sure enough she has fallen, into, on top of her coffee table. Babies are fine, mama is bruised and coffee table broke.

OK, I called the youngest.. I am done, mama has to move, this is ridiculous, She can not live by herself and I have to work. I told them both I had made a decision if they could not and mama either moved in with me or they found her a place but she could not live by herself without constant supervising.

All this results in a tight band, I did manage to eat and get my calories in but it was difficult. When this stressed the head hunger creeps in and I want to eat more than I should but my lovely band lets me no very gently that, that is a no no. I tried some strawberries with whip after dinner and 3 bites and in the trash it went.

This is why I love my band, I was always an emotional eater, the band helps me with that. It forces me to deal with he issues at hand and not find comfort in a bag of chips or bowl of ice cream. When I am super stressed, sliders do not even work for me.

Hubby told me today I looked like an old women. Hmmm, I think I take offense to that. Do I look old? I know I look a little stressed and yes I have some loose skin but do I really look that bad? Honesty please, Carole and Teri, you both will be seeing me in a few weeks and I need some honesty from my friends, so at our meeting I need your input about how I really look. Seriously I need to know, getting paranoid.

I ran into a lady today at work on the elevator and she said,"Honey you are so tiny," I looked at her and said, "I used to be really fat." She looked back at me and said, " Well I would never in a million years guessed you were every fat, you look amazing," So if a stranger thinks I look OK, why does my family think I am too thin. Maybe it is just the dramatic change in my looks. Guess I need to stop obsessing.

I do eat, and I do eat normal stuff. I just have to work at it harder some days than others. Today this is what I ate and you tell me what is so bad.

Breakfast oatmeal with egg whites with diced apples, blueberries and sunflower seeds with raw sugar

Snack: Apricot Kind Bar

Lunch: Cup Broccoli cheese Soup and French Baguette from Panara bread

Dinner: 1/2 single serve Birds Eye cheese and broccoli and 1/2 Chili Lime chicken and rice(lean cuisine)

Bonus: pino noir and I forgot I also had some Mexican Trail Mix at work.

2 strawberries with whip

Now that all calculates out to about 1300 calories so what is wrong with that day???

I know shut up and go to bed Diane, right! so goodnight all, sweet dreams.

Hey Teri, I reviewed your dairies on MFP, Looks like you are doing pretty good with choice, Suggestion, your Protein needs to be more consistent and toward the high side to lose consistently. My experience with the band has been when I am high on the protein, more of an Atkins type diet between 70-80 gms I lost weight faster. Just a suggestion. Also the French bread from Panara was awesome, I had one yesterday also and it took me a while but it was the best thing I have eaten for a while.

Good morning ladies, Just a quick hello before getting that UHaul started.

Diane, I'm glad you called yoir brothers and told them how it was going to be. You do have to save your mom from herself.

I think you look marvelous, but like Dee, I can see how they would think you might look thin. My mom has worn glasses my whole life, she had her eyes fixed and doesn't need glasses anymore, so when I see her with no glasses, I think she's sick (only time without glasses. Now Ange is trying to conserve her contacts and is wearing glasses, she looks sick b/c its the only time she wears glasses. Go figure, our brains are slow to catch up.

Plus your family propably doesn't see you eating much, so they presume that you're not.

I think your food log looks great!

Carole, I'll be glad when you see your new Dr. I pray he is great and can help you figure out whats going on.

Have you got use to the idea that Jack is not on vacation and is there for the long haul now?

I'll talk to the rest of you later. SIL is ready to move.

Love you all!

Good late morning all,

It seems that I will never be a morning person...even when I was in private practice, my first appointment of the day was not until 11am...but did work until 7pm.

Dee, I have very little Fluid in my band now...and I know it is too tight, only it is not too tight most of the time. I just never know what precisely or when it will decide to be too tight. I've even cut my portion size of carbs down, thinking my meals were too large in portion. The reflux is still there in the evenings. I stopped drinking ice tea, because it seemed that some of the reflux was after drinking tea. Still no solution. I also hope that this physician will have some new insights to share with me.

Good morning all, expecting TS Andrea to bring rain here to the marina later. Just posted a storm warning on our web site. Bad weather seems to follow me.

Janet good luck with the move, hope the rain there is not too bad!

All.... BBL Love you!

Janet...

Yes, we are still adjusting to spending so much time together...but mostly it has so far been an easy transition. I still find that time with Jack when we are both in the kitchen the most difficult for me. So I do my best to minimize it.

The house is large enough, with so many different projects going on we rarely see each other during the day except for lunch, or when we leave the house for errands. So far, so good. Jack still does not miss work, only a few of his closest friends there. it's nice in the evenings when he does not have to go to bed so early because he is not having to get up so early. The dogs still wake him up around 7:30, but he is not minding at all!

Thinking of you today with the move and the weather...I hope everything goes well with minimal rain bands.

Terri...

We did not know until the tropical storm until last evening...will you all have increased wind and tides from the storm?

I guess most of the rain will be to the east of us, though it has been raining here off and on since last evening.

Hope you are enjoying your stay despite the weather!

Diane...so pleased to read that you have reached some realizations regarding your situation with your mom. Safety and sanity are the primary considerations. And stress does take a cumulative toll on the individual.

Your menu from yesterday would not have passed muster with my physician in FL...but if your Protein is adequate that's all that matters. Way too many carbs for Dr. Kim...but you need them to help you maintain your weight. I am nowhere near that place in my journey.

Interesting note to me is that you and I are both "emotional eaters"...and now when I am upset my band tightens and I can't even drink Water. Regardless, you have excellent insights into what works for you and you are using your band to assist with your coping skills.

I hope you have a better day than yesterday...

Dawn...good to know that Erica has been able to put some of your concerns to rest with her communication. She will remember this time in her life forever!

Sorry to read about some of your band issues...Heaven knows that I am not in a good place with my band either. I have to learn how to keep from allowing stress to affect me like it is presently.

With a new job, different responsibilities, the empty nest, the move, ect...you are under much stress as well.

Perhaps meditation would help? I have attempted this for myself...my mind just never slows down for it to be effective.

Hope you will be feeling better...and seeing the scale move again!

We will dose out honesty. Hang in there you are right about your mom but I don't like the thought of her at your house. You need a place to yourself.

Good news is I've dropped another lb. bad news is I am exhausted! I'm home for the rest of the day. Just couldn't stay at my desk. I haven't been sleeping that much. Cant sleep at night then get up early for whatever reason.

The rest of this day will be spent on chillax!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
