We found digital scales at our costco, and bought a pair of them. They seem to be within a pound of each other when comparing them to each other. I like the digital electronic scales over the older mechanical designs. I do notice that how you stand on a scale can affect the weight reading by up to a pound.

Bed bath and beyond have a ton. I'm going to check them out this week. I want one that will tell me exact weight. The one I have now is a Walmart one that rounds to the nearest .5

I bought a Tanita 10 years ago and it is still going strong. I needed a good scale because of my weight at the time. I also liked the fact it had 5 different memory slots so multiple people could use it and it will remember your last weigh in.

quite expensive but it was worth it.

I've had a Thinner brand scale for years!! It is always exactly four pounds different from my doctor's scale, but I'm weighing first thing in the morning and in the buff at home and with clothes on and later in the day at the doctor's office.

I can't resist - the best scale is the one that shows your weight dropping!

Do not be surprised if any scale you purchase does not exactly match the doctor's scales. Good news for me, his is always 3 pounds lighter.

I have a scale that tells me how much I gained or lost, but not the number. Godsend.

I love my scale...it keeps going down! Seriously though, I have a Taylor digital scale, it does all kinds of neat things, I bought it from Walmart many years ago and it's still going strong..

There is a 20lbs difference from my home digital scale and my surgeon's office (his is lower) - with my PCP and nutritionist's offices also being different but closer to my scale. I've been thinking it might be time to buy a new scale for home - glad I found this thread!

Mine is a Weight Watchers brand digital scale. I bought it when I had my surgery five years ago and as an obsessive weight tracker, it has held up to religious daily weigh-ins and is very accurate. I just recently had to replace the battery. I believe I bought mine at K-Mart.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
