Question, I have been advised by my nutritionist and surgical coordinator that I do not need to do a pre-op diet except the day prior to only have Clear liquids. It seems as if everyone is on a pre-op liquid diet. Am I the only one that surgeon doesn't require that? And if that's the case, I'm wondering why?

There are tons of people on here who didn't have a pre-op diet, of all starting weights and bmi's! It seems like the majority of doc's do but there are several that don't! Good luck with your surgery!!

However, I didn't have one either. I had a really high weight and BMI too.

My Dr said he put me on a high protein liquid diet in order to shrink my liver, which would allow him more room to work during surgery. I had BMI of 32.

I didn't have pre diet either because My BMI was 32 when I started the process. I guess is up to the doctor.
