I was banded yesterday May 30th and I'm still very sore. It's mostly under my ribs, so I'm assuming its my diaphragm. No gas pain, and holding liquids just fine. I'm a stomach sleeper, so last night was rough being on my back. Any pointers?

Hi Honorsmom, I didn't enjoy sleeping flat on my back either when I tried it as I found it quite painful. I actually slept semi-sitting up on the sofa propped up by lots of pillows (then could sort of move a bit onto either side) which I suspect may be more comfy than just sleeping flat out on your back?... I wish I had better news but it took me about a week before I could sleep "normally". I am not a stomach sleeper, however, so as far as that goes, I'm afraid I don't have any tips...

I also had my banding done on the 30 and last night was my first night home from the hospital and I slept on a lay-z-boy recliner and was quite comfy .

Thanks for the tips. Second night way better than the first. Took the sofa pillows and created a nest in the bed. I'm taking my liquid Lortab every four hours like clockwork. At this rate, I'm afraid that I will go through it all before Monday. Is anyone taking OTC meds with rx?

Hope you guys are feeling good after your surgery! It gets better and better. As far as sleeping on your stomach, I was able to resume sleeping on my stomach 5 days post op. I would take two pillows and put them on my bed from where my waist to chest would be. I would crawl on the bed on all fours, SLOWLY lower myself onto the pillows to when I would be positioned on the pillows. Then when waking up SLOWLY get back on all fours and crawl off of the bed backwards lol. It sounds funny but worked. I've even heard of people doing this since day 1. Good luck!!!

Just be careful laying on your stomach. Depending on where your port is located it can flip while you're sleeping. I remember sleeping on my stomach and the next morning I had a bulge. I had flipped my port and had to have it repositioned on May 10th. My port is much deeper now. I don't know how my next fill will be.

Wow, I had never heard of that. That's crazy! Sorry that you went through that. I wonder why they have never mentioned anything about this.....

How do you know if your port flipped. As for me I'm a stomach sleeper but I haven't been able to sleep on my stomach since my surgery which is about 3 weeks tomorrow I also have a hard time sleeping sideways and I hate sleeping upside up. Sleeping has been crucial for me.

Well, there is always the chance of any type of complication can happen. The port flip was not mentioned but Zi went into it with my eyes wide open. With my port flip I had gone into my doctor's office with a fill. My doctor could not reposition my port manually. I was in pain when he tried to manipulate the port so I had to have port revision surgery. I'm pleased to say I'm doing much better since the revision

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
