Ground hamburger is a go-to food for me! Burger, no bun. I will just cook it and add mushrooms, spinach etc. I make sure I get the leanest beef possible! It's the way I get most of my protein!

I very rarely rat hamburger now. Just think the ground turkey is better for you so I have made that change and use it for everything! If I make meatloaf, I add a little hamburger just for color. Don't notice the difference anymore for tacos, burgers, spaghetti, etc. Just became the new staple in my household.

Just a note...ground turkey is only "better" for you when you are using product labeled "Ground Turkey Breast". The other ground turkey products use dark meat and even fat or skin. Read the label closely.

I'm in the food business and the old saying of buyer beware applies in ground meat-of all kinds!

I don't do chicken well. I can do hamburger in small portions and even that I have to chew well. But NOOO Bread! Can't do bread at all. Don't really miss it. It's been 3 years since I had any and don't miss it.

I mainly eat chicken, and choose to eat ground turkey, but I still like and eat ham (sidenote: ham has more Protein and less fat in an equal portion of chicken) and beef. If it's Protein rich, it's fair game on my menu, as long as it's not seafood, I just hate fish.

Just really stay away from carbs (complex carbs can be ok, just be wary of things that swell, fries and mashed potatoes, if prepared healthy are ok. Rice and Pasta are no go). Be careful of fat, but even that isn't a huge concern for me, sodium doesn't even phase me that much.

But being a 25 year-old guy, I do play kind of fast and loose with nutrition but my body can handle it and I still lose a lot

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
