Anyone have or had a flipped port?

Recommended Posts

I was supposed to have my first fill this morning. The PA put me under the fluoroscope. Fortunately, she had numbed me with lidocaine (sp?) because she spent a good 15- 20 minutes trying to get the needle in my port. She was unsuccessful and feels my port is flipped. I got back this Friday morning to have my surgeon try. Just looking for others who may have had experience with this...

There was a post about this just last week.

I can see how this could happen. I'm slightly surprised though. My port is anchored so well its quite scary. Its right above my incision site. I doubt it could flip either. I would think most providers would do the same.

I have so experienced that. My port is flipped and I felt like my nurse was wrestling me trying to get the needle out once she got it in. I have had my band for 4 years and I have talked to others who have had them a while who also have flipped port. I hate going for fills now and hope I don't need one for a while if not ever.

About a year ago, I went in for a fill. I usually see the PA and he's really good at it. This time I saw the dr. He poked me about 12 times before announcing "I think your port is flipped". Great. What do they do about that? Went into xray and they verified that it wasn't flipped. He just aiming really badly.

Finally the PA came in and got it on the first poke. Let me tell you the next couple days I was sore and bruised. While I like the dr very much, his fill skills need some improvement.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
