I am at 5.7cc I had to fight my doctor for .2cc since October 2012. He feels I am close to the green zone, but I know I am yellow. I still eat more than I should. I have days when I am really strict and stick with it but I still haven't lost any weight. I have been hovering around 170 since September. I don't know what to do. I feel the doctor isn't helping me to get to my goal weight. I have only lost 40 pounds and have 50 more to go.

What makes you think you are not there yet? Often we are in the zone without even realising it. I know when I was first banded I used to hear people talking about the sweet spot and I would wish that I would find it soon. It sounded magical. A place where you could eat a tiny portion of food and not be hungry for hours afterwards.

Well the sweet spot for most does not exist or at least not in the way that many have been led to believe.

Look very carefully at what you are doing, what you are eating etc. maybe you haven't hit the green zone yet but the possibility is that you are already there and you just haven't realised it.

get another doctor, if i felt i needed an additional 50# off then I would look elsewhere, if you had 10-15 # left then that I could tolerate....good luck!

I agree with elcee...weight loss plateaus are a normal part of this weight loss journey. Sometimes we need to change up the routines of our level of exercise or modify what foods we are eating. We can also become complacent about measuring portions.

Be certain to track your daily foods, as it is also easy to forget what we eat over the course of the day.

My surgeon advised me that for many Bandsters, the fabled "green zone" does not exist. I still get hungry between meals, but continue to cope with my hunger by using it as a cue to begin drinking Water which is also necessary for weight loss. I know that I am as close to the green zone that I am ever likely to get as I am usually able to go 4 hours before feeling hungry. It is important to me to be able to take my medications and not worry about getting anything stuck.

It does not seem that you have an excessive amount of Fluid in your band, but sometimes we have to rely on our own coping skills to continue losing weight.

It would be helpful for you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon. If you have had a positive professional relationship with them, communication goes a long way to resolve any perceived differences in opinion.

Track your food, and weigh or measure. It is the only way to be sure you are eating the correct amounts of the right foods. Plateaus are common, some lasting for several weeks. Fills are not the the solution to weight loss. Good food management, healthy choices, exercise and a positive attitude go a long ways. As someone who has been TOO FULL, trust me, you don't want to go there. Make sure you are getting your fluids in every day. You chose the doctor, now listen to him, he has done this before and you have not. You need to trust his advice. Best wishes.

How many calories a day are you eating? It's possible you're eating too little or too much.

Perhaps a visit to your nutritionist is in order. It's frustrating but too little calories can result stall your weight loss. I was eating 1000 calories a day and my loss crawled and even stopped. I increased my calories to 1200 a day and my weight loss picked up again.

Shonna, please fill out your profile. 170 may be a good weight for you, or it may be way too much. I never realized that I was green, either. But, my surgeon will not give me a fill. I am in maintenance and have been for 1 1/2 years. You might need to increase your exercise level, food intake of proteins and water. Changing most anything, will cause a plateau to change, too. best wishes, Karen

Tweak your calorie intake a bit and play with this amount for 2 months. Go slow, jump from 1000 calories to 1150-1160 and watch and weigh. Mine is tweaked in close to 1250-1260 each day but I do drop a bit and then re-tweak my food intake every now and then. I believe my body gets use to a certain calorie amount so I drop the amount then slowly gain it back to 1250-1260. If you count everything you eat and our careful in truly knowing the portions yo eat, YOU will lose but slowly. It took lots of us a lifetime to gain the weight and now we all want it off, quickly. Slower over a great amount of time is the best way to lose the weight.
