Anyone from NYU Langone Weight Loss ?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I am from queens, ny and I wanted to know if anyone had their surgery at NYU hospital? I would love to get to know people that go to the same place i had my surgery! It would be great! And maybe we can all meet up for the NYU lap band support groups every month that they have. :)

let me know if you get any other responses Karen. I bet we can get enough of us together to have our own support group in case they cancel April too. I know that Fielding occasionally has an evening out for the patients to get used to eating out. I asked the front desk to let me know when the next one was planned for. So far, I'm not having any issues eating out but I thought it would be a nice way to meet other NYU bandsters. Again...we can probably do the same thing via this site. .

I also had Dr. Ren. Didn't know you were local Alex. Thanks so much for this site. It was, and still is, the place to go for info and support.

I'm in Huguenot.. I had 1 fill and I lost 39lbs so far.. I still feel like I'm "dieting" but I think 1 more fill will put me in my "green zone"

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
