bye bye to the old me...

I've struggled my entire 30 years of life with my weight. Diet after diet. I'd lose a pound here and there, but never permanently... I started this weight loss journey last February. Going to seminars, watching YouTube videos, doing research. I knew the Lapband was for me!!! I had to recently lose 40pounds to qualify within a 6month period, per my insurance request. I lost the weight!!! Today, my dr office called saying I'VE BEEN APPROVED FOR MY SURGERY!!! May 6th 2013 is the day for me!! Im beyond excited. I have to be on a 3week liquid pre op diet.,That im not happy about, lol. But the NEW ME WILL BE!

Don't obsess about the preop diet. You lost 40 pounds already, so you can hang in for a little pre-op! Congratulations on getting a date and getting approved.

Are,u nervous yet??

Not at all! The only thing that I'm nervous about is I'll be on my Pre-op diet during finals week where I have exams and three presentations! Hopefully I'll be able to get food off of my mind long enough to do them Lol.

But, I did have one day that I really was having a hard time. It was the day I was expecting to schedule my surgery. Was waiting on the phone call. I knew that once I scheduled and made the down payment ($500) , that there was no turning back. So I messaged someone on here who I have talked to since the beginning (she was banded by the surgeon who I'm using and has been VERY successful :) ) and told her what I was feeling. Do I really need this? Can I do it on my own? Will I fail? Why can't I lose weight the "right" way? Can I follow the rules? And the list goes on and on...

Luckily they didn't call that day to schedule surgery and by the day they called days later I had talked to my friend and worked through all of those emotions. I know that I need this surgery. If I want to live a full life then I need to have this done. I am 28 and have high blood pressure and sleep apnea. My mom has diabetes and I know that's next.. Unless I do something! So now I am just eagerly awaiting my nutrition class April 15th, then surgery on May 6th!

Wow Creekwood... I definitely understand . I've asked myself those same questions over and over. No health concerns, just Iron anemia. HBP & CHF runs in my family as well as diabetes. My Grand father had a,triple bipass surgery an still died of heart conditions. My father has CHF an HBP, my aunt recently died of heart complications due to her being excessively over weight. My mother is thin, has been alllllll her life.

So i don't know why I had to get fat. So I know she doesn't understand my pain. I'll be 31 on the 28th & i knew if I didn't do something about my weight now, I'd die fat.... Which is my biggest fear....

But like u said, on next year for my birthday I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MY SUCCESS! :-)
