Went to ER for unfill at 3am

I was in terrible pain last night at 2am after throwing up from 430pm that I decided to try the ER. My surgeon is 5 hours away and this was friday might so I called a few hospitals and asked if they had a bariatric doctor if I come in and of course they had no idea what I was talking about. Then I called one and there was actually a recording advertising for bariatric surgery. I took my chances, went there and the bariatric doc was the on call doc. I felt so lucky cause nobody else had any idea what I was even talking about. So anyways the doc took out all my fill to let it heal from the swelling. I was in so much pain and immediately after he took out the fill I had instant relief. I'm doing better but gonna be on liquids for a few days.

I see where you also threw up back in November? Is this normal for you and why are you throwing up?

Hi Aprl,

You did the right thing going to the ER. I commend you for taking immediate action for your well being and health!

Rest up, feel better

(hugs)

Wow that's scary! I hope you feel better! It was very fortunate that they had a skilled bariatric surgeon on call. When do you go back to your surgeon for a check up?

~hugs~ glad your on the mend....

Oh my goodness that sounds awful. It was very smart to call first, I would never have thought to do that. Glad you found some relief!!

I'm going to call Monday morning to see if I can see someone else. My surgeon comes in town every 2 weeks and he was just here this week.

I really think more ER's should be aware of bariatric complications. Nobody except the surgeon had any idea.

Glad your feeling better! Take it easy for a few days!

My nurse advised me to request an oncology nurse to do the unfill since they work with ports all day long.

Good to know! Thanks!
