Pain- not sure what to think

I am 3 weeks post op and allowed to have food that is pureed. I am concentrating on protein. Tonight I had some beef that I pureed. I am not sure if I pureed it enough or not. I tried to be sure to take small bites and chew, chew, chew. About half way through my meal I was feeling very full. I should have listened to my body and not taken another bite. I did take a few more bites and now I am feeling pain in my chest and into my ribs. It feels like a lot of pressure. Its not in my throat, it doesn't feel like I am stuck (or what I imagine stuck feels like). I am burping a lot too. Did I eat too fast or just too much? Has anyone else felt this way? This is all so new to me and I am still learning how to live with the band.

I had an episode similar to yours and kept burping a lot, so I contacted my NUT to see what I did wrong and she told me I ate to fast. I didn't feel like I was stuck and was not pbing or anything, but had the burping.

I agree, it sounds like you ate too much and too fast. What your feeling is a sort of stuck sensation. In fact, most of the time when we're stuck it's felt in the upper chest rather than the throat.

Yep, sounds like you ate too fast. It's a hard habit to break! :(

Yikes!

Yes, you do want to focus on protien, but maybe pureed beef isn't the right way to go yet.I just ordered a supply of UNJURY protien mixes online and hope to add them to pureed fruits and vegetables, soups, etc. I'm not even banded yet but I know I am going to need emotional support the first time meat goes down the hatch!!

Good luck =)

I have been through exactly what you described and agree completely with Missy. Definitely sounds like you ate fast. When I eat fast and forget to chew my food very fine I will get hiccups and if I eat one more bite I usually end up with a stuck episode and I get the chest pain you describe.
