Surgery Scheduled for March

Recommended Posts

I can have broth and boil 1-2 cups of vegetables in it, but I don't feel like eating that right now. I'm doing well with 4 slim fast high Protein Shakes & in the evening I have 2 cups of steamed vegetables. I have 2 cups of coffee with a dash of whole milk, bad I know!

WOW Newbeebee! You are the only one I have encountered who's diet is worse than mine. I can have apple and orange juice, sf Popsicles, no sugar added fudgesicles, sf Jello and all low sodium broth Soups which really help. However, I have to go 21 days because of my BMI instead of 14. So I guess we all have something. It's going to be worth it. Hang in there, we can do this.

Thank you for your supporting words - love being able to have a conversation with people who understand and "get" why we are doing this - yes we will get through this and be better for it !!

Surgery was this morning and I must say all went well. Yesterday I was freaking out for no good reason. I am very sore but nothing worse than oh maybe contractions, lol. No issues at hospital postop my room mate also had lap band this morning and her husband had it 1 year ago and has lost 130 pounds so he was very positive and inspirational. I pray all my fellow Marchers have an equally good experience. :)

I hope this was a joke....my contractions nearly killed me! LOL. Also I have had two c-sections and I have heard that this is nothing in comparison, I hope that's right.

Even so CONGRATS!! YOU ARE BANDED!!

Congratulations Nicole! How long was the surgery?

I had a c section which hurt so bad for a week, I'm worried because I have a 21 month old son I need to lift in to the car seat, crib etc.... My husband travels for business, but will be home for 3 days after surgery, I hope this is enough time for me to heal.

I can only have protient drink (Premier) for 2 meals and Soup for one meal SF Jello, pudding, or popsicles for 2 Snacks a day. No juice, carbonated soda only SF drinks like Water or tea. I am on day 4 and not as hungry as day 1 but not happy. the good thing on mine is that I can eat any soup for meal except cream based. So chicken noodle, chili, and such is ok as long as it is only 1 serving. If you ask me though the serving sizes are crazy. I hope it gets better soon. My husband was eating chicken nuggets last night and I wanted to kill him... lol not really. But they did smell amazing.

I finally got my insurance approval only to find out that my surgeon's hospital doesn't have availability until March! So now I'm scheduled for my band on March 6' date=' 2013.

I've been doing a pre-op diet of 2 shakes and one small meal per day since Jan 2. So far only a couple mis-steps but I'm really looking forward to having the band as a tool to help me out. And I look forward to chatting with other March Bandsters! :D[/quote']

Congratulations! My surgery is Monday morning, I am so excited. I started out doing 1200 cal diet from dietician. I have mixed it up a little with Atkins Protein Bars and shakes. At final weigh in yesterday, down about 8 pounds. I am a 35 BMI er. I have fought with weight for a few years. Could lose, but always regained.

Day 5 of pre-op diet and I am feeling much better. I am not starving like I was yesterday. I am actually feeling like I can do this. Anyone else getting through the diet ok or is it a struggle. I cheated and ate a creamed based Soup last night which I was told not to do but I only had 1 cup so I think it will be fine. I only work 3 days a week but they are 12 hour shifts. It seems that I have a harder time when I am at work rather than at home. Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

Hey Jenny! Day 5 for me too. I've been doing good even endured people eating my favorite fried chicken in front of me. I'm allowed a cream based soup, it's funny how alike but different our preop diets are. Question? Do you think it would be okay to have Pickle Juice and hot sauce? I mean hey they are no calorie liquids. I'm craving a pickle but the juice would do the trick. My only concern is the sodium.

I'm also day 5, I used hot sauce last night on my veggies. I also had some pickled veggies, I needed something different.

I'm finding it easier as the days go on.

Has anyone done their pre op yet?

I am allowed cream Soups but they must be 98% fat free. I have also been having pickles.

Pre-op testing for me was blood work & ekg. It was easy.

I want pickles so bad, but I don't want to do anything to mess up and it's not on my list. I guess I will wait until tomorrow and call the office and talk to my dietician.

Hey guys! My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 9:10!! I am so freakin' excited such a weird feeling!

My pre-op went really well, in fact I never cheated and I am amazed by that. I think pickles are okay, I was allowed to have vegetables prepared without fat, just no potatoes, peas or corn. By the end of these two weeks, I am not starving at all and am not craving fatty foods and carbs so hopefully my addiction get's kicked and I survive Bandster Hell in a few weeks LOL.

Good luck everyone!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
