What food do you miss the most??

Recommended Posts

I plan on having the lap band surgery within the next year. I will take the upcoming year to work with my doctor on anything that I need while also doing as much research as possible on my own. After all waiting one year to prepare myself for the lifestyle that I will live with for the rest of my life seems reasonable. Assuming that you are post band, What foods do you miss the most? pizza and chicken Tikka Masala (from a local Indian restaurant) are my absolute favorite! However, they aren't healthy (obviously) and I know that I will miss them! But, I'd rather miss the food and not have to wear the stupid Mask in bed every night bc of my sleep apnea (which I hope will go away with weight loss)! Not to mention being able to play sports with my son for an extended period of time!

Pancakes! It is the one food that HAUNTS me once in a while and I just can't get them off my mind.

Don't get me wrong, I could eat "a" pancake, and the chances of one little pancake going down fine is pretty good. I can eat most anything if I'm careful enough. But I am talking about a big old stack of buttery, homemade buttermilk pancakes with my mom's homemade brownsugar Syrup.< /p>

So while I could eat one little pancake and be fine, I just can't imagine slathering it in butter and loading it up with carmely brown sugar syrup.

Sooooooo flipping delish!!!!

This being said, I believe you can eat anything once in a while... in moderation.

Those pancakes sound delicious! Lol

I am lucky in the aspect of carbonated drinks, I haven't had a pop in years. Beer on the other hand I do have a couple a month, but I'll be fine giving beer up . But when football season rolls around and I can't drink one, I'm sure I'll miss it! But, it will be worth it for sure!

Thanks for the replies, this site is great!

It's not a food, but it's the only thing I wish I could have every once in awhile,

Bacardi & Diet Coke. :(

I know its all in my head, but I really miss a big sandwich from my fav Italin deli. Long hard italian roll, fresh Mozz, turkey, roasted peppers with balsamic, and a side of banana peppers.

Its not that I can't have this on whole wheat bread, just my head/thoughts about shoving this big doughy bread in it. I haven't had a taste of regular/white/italian bread in over 7 months. Besides, I am afraid of getting stuck as I don't know what its like to and want to keep it that way, LOL

WHITE bread.. I was a bread eater.. I still once in awhile may but I 99% choose whole wheat bread now.

and damn those pancakes sound so great!! almost made me choose that to be the thing I miss most! lol.. but like CG said, nothing is really off limits, now it's just Portion Control, and the foods that are bad for ya, well only a once in awhile deal for me.

That is what I love about the band... nothing is off limits completely... I love pizza but I know that its not possible to eat the 3-4 slices I used to eat. Now I am satisfied having a small amount with a salad on the side... Its all about being satisfied not stuffing yourself to be full. Now a small slice of cracker thin crust pizza eaten very slowly satisfies me.

I really should go and get something to eat now, before I eat my Tablet.

Between pancakes and an italian sandwich I'm a little hungry. lol

To be honest, I don't miss any foods. I still eat all my old favorites- Chinese, pizza, even desserts- but I do it on occasion and in moderation. And when I do, I simply make sure to add them into my daily calories.

The only thing I miss isn't a food, it's a drink. I miss Vernor's ginger ale. It's carbonated so I can't have it anymore, but it's the only thing I miss.

I have the joy of being gluten intolerant so I've cut out so much already. It sucks.

I dont miss anything because if I want it I eat it just not that much. I cant eat bread though so if I want a sub I just eat the insides.

I miss diet coke worse then I can tell you. But I knew going into this that carbonation was forbidden.... So its just the way it is.

As far as actually food goes.... I could eat a small bit of anything I want but my band just will not tolerate grease.... So while I could have 2 or 3 French fries or hash browns or any other greasy food in moderation .... I end up bringing it back up so I forgo it. I especially miss hooters chicken wings.... In a BIG way....

Mine is Diet Coke, but I have gotten over it. I tried it flat during the first year and that cured me of wanting it. I can eat most things with my band but in small portions, I may only be able to have one or two bites but I can eat it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
