Just looking to see who on here has had surgery in Mexico at the CosMedClinic? I've heard a few good reports from people who have, but I am obviously apprehensive about surgery in any other country, but the savings is so significant that I figured it is worth checking out.

Please let me know if you have and how your experience went, or if you considered it and didn't--why?

Thanks!

I had my Tummy Tuck and arm lift here in Houston and they are both beautiful. Dr Quiroz at cosmed did my breast lift with augmentation and neck lift in Aug 2012. He did a good job on the lift and implants and placing of my nipples but his stitch work is some of the messiest I've ever seen. Luckily my scars heal pretty well. When I had my arm lift two weeks ago here in Houston she extended it all thru my arm pit and tightened up the skin on my side boob. She cut out a lot of his messy stitching under my boobs and tightened those up. My neck lift is good but again, very messy external stitches.

A friend of mine from here flew there to get Lipo in her stomach and he ended up talking her into a lower body lift. The anesthesia wasn't working (not the best quality was used on me) and so they did a spinal tap thing. They had to go in twice and they ended up tearing some tissue in her spinal chord. She had to insist on being driven to the emergency room I San Diego where they just dropped her off. I had done my research on Costmed and could only find good reviews. If I had dug deeper I would have found d similar stories to my friends.

I saved a lot of money going to Mexico. I wouldn't recommend cosmed but I think there are other doctors there that do good work. Please do lots and lots of research before you go. There are a bunch of girls that went there and they act like he is some kind of ps god. I've seen their pictures and its not the best work. Just be very very careful.

Thanks for the feedback!

I decided being close to my doctor was important to me following surgery, and have booked with someone here in Massachusetts.

Good idea! I had some Fluid problems from my breast lift in Mexico and no doctors here would even look at it. It worked out okay but could have been much worse!

I've always wondered when reading about all the people that go to Mexico....who do they see for follow up? What if they have a problem? I'm 5-1/2 weeks PO TT & BR/BR & on another site I'm reading of people having problems even this late into it...so what do they do? That would scare me. My doc is 2 hrs away & that has been a pain bcuz I have a small complication with one of my boobs....however, I have his cell phone # and access to him whenever I want. I couldn't imagine being out of touch with him!!

So cal amy: I know! Funny I didn't even think about it until after I had gotten back home. I did have some very painful swelling under one of my breasts. I was able to massage it and that helped alot. I called my PS here in Houston and her nurse told me that she couldn't look at it, comment on it, nothing! I guess if she even said anything about it, she could be pulled into some kind of lawsuit about it. I've heard of people ending up in emergency rooms. I've heard of success stories too. Mine ended up okay but I feel I was very lucky.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
