1 Year Band Anniversary and 175 pounds gone!

Recommended Posts

This is wonderful news!!! I am new to the site and was wondering how can we help our skin tighten while we lose the weight or will we just have to have surgery to get rid of it.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-3S because it is wise and all knowing...

Well, it depends greatly on your age, how overweight you are and how long you've been that way, and skin elasticity overall. Plus...just genes. Some simply do better than others.

As for myself, I am getting a Tummy Tuck in a couple months. I'm also looking into getting financed for other skin removal, like my arms and legs. I desperately need it.

Congratulations Missy! Your posts are truly inspirational to me. I just started my 3 month insurance medically monitored diet. Each appointment they discuss bypass and sleeve surgeries. I tell them the same thing each time, I understand that the lapband is a tool. I am not looking for the fastest way to loose weight. I am most comfortable with lapband. I have 200 pounds to loose and to see stories like yours I know it can be done with the band.

A year ago today' date=' January 6, 2012, I had Lap Band surgery. I remember being scared out of mind and seriously considering canceling the whole thing. I cannot not tell how glad I am I didn't give into that fear and went through with it.

I have lost 175 pounds in the last year!

I've lost it by simply monitoring my calorie intake and portion size, making good food choices, walking, and learning to work with my band. I won't lie and say it's easy but it's not hard either. It's work. The biggest adjustment has been getting used to a new, healthy way of thinking and living. I still have a little ways to go before I reach goal, but I'm confident I'll be there by my second band anniversary.

To all those who are told you can't lose a lot of weight with the band, or you are too big or your BMI is too high to be successful with the band- I am living proof that's not true. The band is work and you can be successful with your band as long as you're willing to work for it.

Thanks to everyone for being there for the last year of support and encouragement!!! :D

This is inspirational.

WOW WOW !! Absolutely stunning !! :-) congratulations !! Your post were my inspiration when I was prepping for pre op last year.I started strong but fizzled because of a couple of traumatic " life" incidents over last summer and fall. I came here tonight looking for that spark , I think I just found it with this post. Good luck with your Tummy Tuck and next phase ! :-)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
