January 2013 Bandsters Unite

Recommended Posts

i started solids today and i definately over did it :( trial and error i guess ) my husband brought me a small chicken shawarma for lunch and i thought i was taking my time... i didn't eat all of it but afterwards and up until now (3 hours later) and im still hurting like chest area? has this happened to anyone? and i keep belching... like a lot!!!!! (tmi sorry) any tips on how to know when youre full without feeling that full feeling?!!?

Measure out your food and eat that and stop. You don't want to eat until you are full just satisfied. It's hard I know my head says eat more eat more but I stop and then glad I do.

Just stopping in to say I had my first fill! Surgery was 5 weeks ago. He put 4 cc's in without a problem. He got it on the first stick :D Nothing to be nervous about! I'm a crybaby, and this was a piece of cake :P

I had my first fill today, also!! It was alot easier then I thought it was going to be. Just a little sting, in fact it hurt less then getting blood drawn. I got 3 cc' s.

I think that's why bandster weigh their food. Try keeping it at 4 oz. I have been keeping the less than a cup per meal. My nutritionist told me that if I have to take a deep breath during meals that means I am full and push the food away.

Big milestone today. I went out to dinner for the first time since being banded about a month ago. I did good. Ate about 3 oz grilled scallops and about 1/4 cup sauteed spinach. I took a roll when offered and never touched it. Did not feel hungry or unsatisfied...and I don't think any of my dinner companions noticed my cutting the scallops into small pieces or that I was waiting between bites. They didn't know I had the lapband, and I didn't want to talk about it either. oh...and after dinner, we went to see Barry Manilow in concert. He was terrific, sang all his hits, and had the audience singing along with him. Mostly though, it was really nice for me to have enjoyed the show more than focusing on the meal beforehand.

I had surgery 3 weeks ago to the day and I got my first fill today! I was given 3 cc for my 10 cc band during surgery. Today they gave me an additional 1.2 cc. They told me to come back in 3 weeks for my 2nd fill. My doc seems pretty aggressive but I will do as he instructs. I can't wait to reach the "green zone" where I'm not hungry for 5 hours on a cup of food.< /p>

Dang that is aggressive. Make sure to follow your bodys instincts too though if you feel like something isn't right or your too tight.

Soon2B that seems to happen if I eat a lot (as in a cup) or something that is harder to digest than I thought, so far oatmeal does that for me.

TxMamaof3,

My dr is the same way! I had 1 cc put in at 3 weeks, and then another 1 cc put in this week, three weeks later. I was banded January 9, I'm doing great. Already 26 pounds down! At first I was worried how aggressive my doc was, but now I'm good with it. His theory is that the band is a tool, and he wants it to work it's best by getting me there as soon as possible. Every doc and every journey is different, but I'm happy so far with mine. Good luck to you!

Hello all! I'm new :)

I have my first appt with a surgeon on 2/20 to discuss requirements in order to get rolling.

I'm hoping for success and to possibly get this done by late summer. *fingers crossed!*

Worried my insurance won't approve...

was scheduled for my first fill today but am down another 7 lbs. and not having hunger between meals. Staying around 1,000 calories a day so dr. said to leave well enough alone and come back in a month to reassess. I'm actually fine with that plan.

Feeling so unsatisfied right now. I seem to eat in the night more than one should. I don't know what to do. I am not hungry, just bored.

I know it's hard but try to find something that occupies your mind and hands. It's like trying to quit smoking.

I taught myself to knit when I quit smoking. Work puzzles or something like that. Right now I have 4 college classes that keep me busy with homework. I feel your pain though the evenings are the worst for me too.

Thanks. I will try to read or something. I have a few books to still read.

I paint my nails. It's weird but it stops me from eating when I'm just bored.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
