Need some encouragment

Recommended Posts

I was banded seven months ago. I have lost 60 pounds. But me and my family have recently moved to a new town. And I have had to find a new doctor the doctor told me my band was too tight and took out 1/3 of a cc. So I now have 6 cc's in my 10 cc band. Since then I have been able to eat pretty much anything I want and not feel any restriction like I was feeling before. I'm feeling pretty discouraged because I have gained 5 pounds back. I go back to the doctor on Friday and I am hoping he will give me that Fluid back in my band. And I know that I have not been eating Like I should. I guess it was just really easy to fall off the wagon when you didn't feel the same.

Did you think you were too tight? What was going on medically to make your new dr think that?

If I'm doing fine, able to keep food and liquids down, I'm not lying down and letting anyone poke be and take liquids out of my band!

You do have the right to refuse you know.

Sounds like something else was going on though. If everything is good now ask for another fill. If refused find another doctor.

Unfortunately you are falling into a false since of understanding of the band and it's working capabilities. I don't mean for this to sound harsh but just because you can ear something is not a reason to eat it. Head hunger is the hardest part of this journey and this is what you must get a handle on. I suggest you speak with the physiologist that screened you before surgery and tell them you are struggling. Do not wait for the band to fix your hunger, you take charge of your behavior and figure out what makes you eat besides being hungry. You can do this, it is possible, you can be successful but you have to believe in yourself and get rid if the doubt. Good luck to you.

Yes I was feeling a little tight when I went in there was a lot That I wasn't able to eat because it was coming back up so he let the Fluid out he said that my stomach needed time to heal because the pouch could expand from it being over tight K I understand all that and I understand the head hunger versus the actual hunger and I have been struggling with that and us moving 500 miles away from all of my support and my original doctor has made it that much harder. When he removed the fluid I was under the impression that I would still have some restriction.

Justjaime do you lnow how much a cc is? 1/3 cc is practically nothing. Not enough to make you feel "loose"! I say your mind is playing tricks! Dont feel bad, get back on the wagon and eat only what you should! Never over 1 cup and no snacks!

I know it's not much at all I Just went from not being able to eat hardly anything to being able to eat whatever I want It's the first time since my first so that I felt this way it is most likely my mind which I hate at the moment I just need to get back on the bandwagon I guess

Unfortunately when they let all the fluid out it is much more difficult because you start to feel hungry again. Have you had a recent fill? If not maybe a small one. Don't give up on yourself, you have had a small set back but recognize you need help. Good luck!

The band of isn't meant to stop you from eating anything! If helps you feel satisfied with smaller portions. So your doctor was right. Don't expect the band to stop you from eating pizza or bread. You need to choose to eat healthier.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
