Surgery is Friday and I am getting beyond cranky. I posted yesterday that I wish my dr had me on all liquids. This one solid meal is becoming difficult. Again, I know in the grand scheme of things I am doing great. But two days with minor slip ups is two day too much. Today my father came by with homemade sauce and wanted Pasta for lunch. So the dumbass I am by putting everyone first makes the pasta for him, my husband and my son. Had my Protein Shake and then when I was cleaning up something took over and I had a couple pieces. I didn't have the meatballs or sausage, but still had some! Ugh!! This mental thing will certainly be the hardest. Looking to find a new therapist now that specializes in eating disorders so I have a better outlet.

Thanks. I need to be proactive about this. Reactive is what got me to 300lbs!

I took a little different mind set to my preop ( and still lost 12 lbs) . I would rather have a little taste of something rather than blow the whole diet. I did not purposely go out and taste/eat everything but if it came about that i really wanted to taste something i did. then i moved on.

Remember that this is all about learning to react differently to food. It's not an all-or-nothing scenario. You are doing fine. Being so hard on yourself is also part of the cycle. Next step you'll just get frustrated, too hard on yourself, and you'll give in ( recognize the cycle?)

Take a deep breath, Celebrate your victories, and quiet that voice in your head! ( especially the one who just called you a dumb ass)

Minimi I agree with you 100%. I have not cheated but I know that in being too hard on myself just sets me up for failure and frustration!

Day gets better and need some good mojo sent my way. Just spent two hours at the drs and my little guy has the flu, so of course since we left every bone in my body has been aching.... So please pray this only goes 2 ways 1) nothing happens or 2) I get it and it's over within 48 hours so I am still good to go for Friday. I do not want I reschedule!!

So sorry to hear this and I hope the little guy bounces back quickly. If you get the flu it will not be gone in 48hrs. They say a week to 10 days. Please do not have surgery if you even feel like you're getting the flu.

I'll pray it all works out! Good luck!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
