2Nd Fill And I Cant Keep Food Down, Help

Recommended Posts

So Thursday I had my 2nd fill... dr put in 2cc so now I am at 5 in a 10cc band. After my first fill I was able to eat okay and after about 3 weeks had a few stuck episodes from eating too fast and not chewing enough. Now however I can't really get much down. I tried eating soft food the first night and after 5 bites I was so stuck it took 2 hrs but it all came back up. Then Friday I decided all liquids and was able to get down a pudding for lunch. I was also able to eat a little Pasta for dinner but it took an hour to eat a cup of food. This morning I woke up thinking maybe I could get something down so I tried a ham rollup and after 2 bites I was stuck again. I am eating slow and chewing well but I am afraid I won't be able to get anything down. I am afraid to try anything at this point aside from my Protein Shake.< /p>

Did anyone else have this experience? Will it get better after a few days or should I call Monday to get some taken out? Help please!

Hi Sweetsam! I haven't had a fill yet - I'm newly banded. My doc did say though, that after each fill I'm to be on liquids for 3 days then work my way back to solids 3 days at a time like I did just after surgery. He said that it will take time for my stomach to adjust to the tighter band. Like I said...no experience with this yet...it's just what my doc said that I will do after my fills. Maybe it'll help you? Good Luck...and hope you feel better! :)

Yep you should have been on liquids only for at least 24 hours, followed by mushies for 24 hours. Go back to the beginning and start again with liquids. You have probably irritated the band and esophagus. If you are not able to eat mushies after a day of liquids call the doc for an unfill.

I knew I was supposed to do liquids for the first night but thought I would be okay with a mushie food.... thanks for the advice. Sometimes it helps to hear it from others. I guess its me and Protein Shakes for the next 2 days lol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
