How Soon After Banding

Recommended Posts

I waited over a year before trying after having my lapband. It took us till 2010 to get pregnant still had to go thru fertility treatments still. I got pregnant in April 2010 and had my son January 24, 2011 and he will be 2 in a few weeks.

I was banded June 8, 2011; and got pregnant a month later! It was a complete shock because we had been trying for over 9 years with no luck, so I just assumed I couldn't get pregnant! WOAH! I had a miscarriage, unfortunately; but then I really got my butt in gear, and I got pregnant again in January 2012, and had my daughter September 27, 2012. I probably should have waited longer, and honestly I thought it would take longer, so that's why I started trying so early. I do recommend waiting at least a year.

My doctor says to wait a year. My husband and I have been trying since 2010. I am 31 and my husband is 34. We tried fertility treatments 2011- early 2012. After several tests and doctor visits and cash we still don't have children. When this lap band procedure fell in my lap I could not pass it up as this may be what we need to succeed. Maybe it's a sign saying "Noooo don't do it!" LOL But we both love kids. We know it will happen in Gods time.

I was banded in January of 2009 after 4 years of trying to conceive. Fell pregnant in May of 2010 with bub number 1 and again Feb of 2011 with bub number 2, my Dr gave no time frame for falling pregnant but required me to have a complete unfill when I did fall. My second is now 11 weeks old and I just had my first fill in over a year. I am still only 10 pound above my per pregnancy weight :). Now to get to goal!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
