Better Than I Thought!

Recommended Posts

I have felt for the last few months that I have been in this state of suspension. I thought I wasn't moving anywhere, up or down. I decided to look back at the monthly challenges, that Lisa Holland so graciously organizes each month, and I see that I have actually been steadily losing! WoOhOo!

08/01 - 205 lbs

09/01 - 198.8 lbs

10/01 - 195.2 lbs

11/01 - 191 lbs

...and this morning I weighed in at 188! So, 17 lbs in almost 15 weeks. I'm not thinking that is too shabby! Averaging more than a pound a week, do you guys think that is a fair loss based on your experiences? Of course, more is always better. ;) Just curious if that even seems like a plateau or if I am doing ok?? FYI, ate tons of candy in October and haven't worked out in a month, so I know I can be doing better and have started to pick things up.

What are your thoughts!?

That is a great loss. Slow and steady is the best. You are doing fantastic!

I think that is fabulous. The initial quick weight drop on the liquid diet can create false expectations. A pound a week is super progress. It is better than gaining anytime! Congrats on your progress! Sometimes I have to look back and make the same analysis. Slow and steady wins!

Thanks ladies! I agree that as long as I continue to lose, I feel like slower is better. Less excess skin and not going through clothes so quickly! I am now out past a year and think it has balanced out some. My plan from here on out is to try and average a pound a month or more. It looks like you both have been doing great as well! Keep it up!

I think you're doing great ! Like me, you're averaging a lb a week with some weeks more or less. i think were both right on target. i keep a daily log of my weight and food and exercise , not because i live and die by the scale ( i dont) but because it lets me see my progress . Also if i stop loosing or gain i can go back and look at my eating habits and make quick changes to get me back on track in stead of guessing at what i ate. Keeping track has been a huge lifesaver for me. I think you 'doing it the right way, so keep it up ! great job !

That is amazing progress!!! Initially, many of us lose quicker as we are much heavier so to be this far out and still be losing a pound a week that is great!!

Congrats to you! Do you feel different overall? Have you ever checked your measurements?

Oh yeah! I check my measurements at every "official" weigh in, which is with my surgeon. If you have a smart phone, there is a great app called BodyShot that helps you keep track of your measurements, pics and such. See below for a screenshot of my results in inches as of my last appt on 10/9/12!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
