Your Last Supper......

Recommended Posts

Lasagne from Carrabas my favorite restuarant. But it was the night before surgery and I was really too nervous to eat. I ate about half and knew I couldnt take the rest home so I had them throw it away. But looking back now I dont regret doing this one bit.

The day before I started my pre-op diet, my husband and I ordered dinner. I had Penne Vodka and a bottle of wine!!

I had a huge Reuben sandwich, fries, and a huge Coke. I also had probably half a chocolate mousse pie and a ton of Reese Peanut Butter cups.

Hell I spent the entire week before just grazing and eating pure crap lol.

I honestly wish I knew then what I know now. I saw it as my "last meal", my last chance. Aside from the Coke (which I don't even miss) I didn't realize I could still have it all in moderation.

When I think of eating all that now it makes me nauseous.

I went to kona grill (sushi) and had part of a sunshine roll and half of a steak flatbread. I'm sure there were drinks and dessert too, but I don't remember. I still eat there often, and have eaten both of those things---but a lot less of them, and not simultaneously!

Sushi and asparagus! I absolutely LOVE grilled asparagus! I read a lot of posts of not being able to eat it after surgery, my nutritionist said I probably wouldn't be able to tolerate it after surgery as well. Happy to say I can tolerate it well chewed! But everything is well chewed now!

Change of plans. I've decided not to do a crazy last supper. I'm going to a concert tomorrow instead. I have to start having more experiences that don't revolve around food. But I'm sure I'll have a last drink! ;-)

I love bread and Pasta so I will probably have something along those lines. Or maybe steak and pasta. OR Sushi! I'm not sure, but then again, I still have 5 more months to figure this out :P

I made a whole day out of it. My mom and I went to lunch then I got cup cakes from this bakery. That night my friends and family went to Outback for a "last supper". My favorite is the Tawamba Pasta. Then we got krispy kreme doughnuts. I was stuffed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
