Nov.8th is my day along with Hianal hernia repair, but Im starting to get a little worried. Someone please help! Is this normal to have second thoughts or is something trying to tell me don't do it.

Yes! I had second thoughts as well. I thought I had lost weight on the pre op why can't I just keep it up on my own. But reality is I always gain it back and I wanted to stop this cycle and get healthy for good. I think when you have an elective procedure you do think twice...do I really need this?

It's not an easy road, but each day gets better and being 40+ lbs thinner has been great. I am off all my medications.

You will do great!

It is an emotional roller coaster prior to surgery due to the unknown. I too was frightened and had second thoughts.....now .....greatest decision ever...... would do it all again in a heartbeat!

Thank you Starting over!

I know I need this but you're right, it is about the unknown. I will have to just trust God, and leave it in his hands. :-)

Second, third, fourth...if you weren't questioning it just a little bit, I'd be concerned! I almost bailed the day before surgery. It's a lifestyle change, and change is scary.

But let me tell you, the reward is so, so completely worth it! I'm down over 55 lbs and feel fantastic (about 6 months post-op). I also had a hiatial hernia repair, and that alone helped with my acid reflux issue I was having.

My surgery was life-changing but in a very good way. If you're having serious doubts, just make a list of the pros and cons. Sometimes seeing it all laid out helps.

Yep, its normal :)

I had a hiatal hernia repaired as well and I have never felt better. No more heartburn!

I also had second thoughts right up until the surgeon came to talk to me 5 minutes before my surgery. He assured me everything would be fine - and it was!

well, they fixed a hernia i didnt even know i had during my surgery..sure i was nervous....because no matter what anyone here or anyone else says, until you do it and go through it, you have no idea what its like.

that being said..worried about what? is your dr operating in the back of a shed? does he resemble mr magoo?? if so, then yeah, id be worried too.

please relax (yeah i know easier said then done) but you can do this.

if you dont want to do it, then dont

if you dont, unless you change your eating 100% you will stay where you are at or get bigger (that was me)..

so get your head on straight

do what you have to do to make yourself well

follow your dr's orders as they are there for a reason

(if you cheat the banded b's will come for you HAHA)

i am so proud of you :)

Carolinagirl, I guess the reason I'm worried is that this is a major surgery, I know it's safer then the alternative but this is the first time I have had any kind of major surgery. I guess I'm just worried about if things went wrong for my family and kids.

I know I need this! and you're right I do have a good surgeon he's the best in the southeast for I researched him long before I even started this journey. Thanks again for being tough with me and getting my head straight. ALL you guys are awesome!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
