I just went to my first consultation tonight. I spoke with the doctor and met with the coordinator and decided on the lap band with plication. They then went through all the tests I need to get done before surgery (endoscopy, cardio workup, pulmonary, psych, nutritionist, blood work and ultrasound)! Most of them I can get done at their office but a couple have to be done offsite (cardio and ultrasound). I also have to lose 7 pounds prior to surgery which is hopefully happening in February!. I'm not sure if all the doctors require the same thing but I feel it's best to know all is good before having the procedure done! Good luck! :)

The ones that can be done there- can they all be done in one day? I'm trying to do this with as little time off work as possible- they are good about it, letting me work extra hours so i can get off in time to get to my appointments without having to take sick time- I work an hour away from home though and when I work extra or leave early i can't ride the shuttle- and of course my doctor is an hour the other way- so it takes me 2 1/2 hours to drive there from work.

The ones that can be done at my doctors office are the nutrition and psych consult which I am doing the same day. They said it takes about 2 hours. I am doing that early November. The blood work and pulmonary is being done at the doctors office too but I had to wait until early December for that. Everything else is someplace else! I have to take a full day off of work for the endoscopy. I'm not sure if all surgeons require it. The cardio is at another office as well a the ultrasound. I know it sucks about taking the time off from work. I'm in the same boat.

Not to be a downer but I had LOTS of appointments. I had the original consult with Nurse Practitioner/Nutritionist/Psychologist. Some things I had already completed but here's what they required: yearly physical, pap smear, full blood workup, cardio ultrasound; 3-4 meetings with Nutritionist, 3 meetings with eating disorder therapist (doctor requires of all his patients), 2-3 appointments with Nurse Practioner and 2 with surgeon.

I went today and besides the psych eval I can do everything in one appointment (blood workup and endoscopy) he said we can do that the week before the surgery. So now I go to the psych eval and wait for the approval,

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
