Coffee Nutritive Values, A Shocker!

Recommended Posts

I have been doing very well with my (food)lifestyle change lately. Had a big bump in the road a while back, but it's been worked out (thank you to those that helped me). However, I've jumped in head first into a cross over addiction, flavored iced coffee from my hot spot, Dunkin Donuts. I almost always drink Decaf, btw. Anyway, I stepped out of my blind spot and looked up the nutrional values of my drink of choice, and I half knew and half denied the reality of drinking such drinks. I "was" using Equal, that makes up for all the damage doesn't it, NOT! The calories weren't over the top but the carbs were through the roof! A serious change in this new addiction is in order.

IWhen I do go back to DD, I will buy my iced coffee with no flavor or cream. I LOVE coffee and don'twant to part with it, I just need to alter the ingredients. I drink it black in hot form, why not try iced form?

Yet another adjustment in living successfully with my band. And if I can succeed with my food intake, I can succeed in my coffee. They're just Fluid calories/fat/carbs, a no-no anyway.

So I caution those of you to bite the bullet as I did and find out the nutrional values in your coffee choices. You may be shocked, but it will put you in the right direction!

Thanks!

I have a mad passion for coffee in all sorts of ways and I hope to be a Barista at Starbucks some day so I can learn all the tricks! I would like to be a coffee conniseur (sp?)

I knew the creamy, flavored iced coffees were bad for me, but didn't want to let it go. But if I'm going to be a successful bandster, I must cut it out. I'll have one once in a while, when I can budget it into my diet.

Thanks for the response, it made me smile... :D

Yeah the cream and even milk has to go. Think how black coffee is and then look at the product in those clear cups. If its not black like coffee than you know there are to many calories.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
