I'm Eating Normal???

Recommended Posts

You are not a failure! It usually takes more than one fill for the band to start doing its job. In the meantime, you'll have to white-knuckle it, but believe me, it's worth it!

I know... I hate those people who have lost 158 pounds and think they know how this works, and then proceed to tell us how it's done. How dare they share their success!!! They obviously have no clue!

I'm not a 1 cup measurer like Missy (thank God). I'm a calorie counter. I shoot for 1200 calories a day or there about. Oddly... it ends up my meals are about 1 cup. Oh the shame.

Love it.. I'm not a online forum clique kind of person and I'll speak my mind and I don't care if its not what the cliques want to hear as this forum has a clique anyone can point out!! same answers on every post no matter what the question (chew chew' date=' no more than a cup of food, satisfy, it isn't no restrict, call your Dr or my favorite follow your Dr instructions no solids at all) pretty sure we all know that we did have the same surgery as you!![/quote']

Amen sister ! It appears as if it's the older ones who are the WORST.

Let's simmer down now folks :D

EVERYONE is entitled to their own opinion.

Dr. Simpson's link explains restriction well and that's really how bandsters should be feeling.

Children!!! why because were still young and taking control of our health and weight before were 50 plus and can enjoy our healthy hot bodies while were still young yes that totally makes us children!! Ooh watch out someone other than the cliquey comment on every damn post I know anything and everything, on this forum 24/7, has an opinion and advice and because I'm not 50 plus or five years post OP it makes anything I say incorrect right!!?

I don't and haven't puked, I've never been stuck, I eat a half cup of food because I'm full after that so just an fyi I'm not successful from a tight band I'm successful as I eat healthy, eat small portions and I work my @$$ off in the Gym 6 days a week and have been doing so 4 months before I was banded!!

Have a nice day old timer!!!

If ony the adjustable gastric band had been available here in the US back in the Stone Ages, when I was your age.

But it wasn't, so all I can say is: better late than never.

Thanks for the entertainment!

Yep, and you've done a great job and I wish to God I had this option when I was 20 cuz I've been fat since I was 8. Just like what works for you.... a cup of food works for Missy and counting calories works for me. And because I have been banded for 2 years and experienced a lot in those 2 years I like to share what has worked for me. I don't care if anyone takes my advise or not. Sometimes... honestly.... when you are getting stuck often... you need to chew, chew, chew and some people think they are chewing a lot, but their not. Every fill I received I had to chew even more. They drill these things into out heads at all our Pre-Op stuff for a reason. Feel free to tell a poster your experience and what has worked for you, we are all different and Lord knows the band works differently for all of us. Here's wishing you continued success, you look like a beautiful young lady.

And... don't let the "children" comment upset you too much. We didn't get excited when you called us "old".

Dear Lord, how in the world does sharing facts make this a clique? And why the hostility?

I have a theory. People who are *that* defensive without cause it's due to their own insecurities. It's not my job to placate people, sooth their wounded egos, or tell people what they want to hear. In fact, it's not my "job" to be here at all, I'm here to simply offer support and share information. I see entirely too many under-educated people walking around with bands, clueless, then wonder why they don't lose weight or worse end up with avoidable complications. I'm simply trying to educate.

This is a forum btw, not a blog. If you don't want or can't handle responses to your posts, then get a blog, but here you better expect responses.

One small piece of advice- just because you don't agree with something doesn't make it untrue. There is a big difference between medical fact and anecdotal evidence. I highly suggest you learn the difference.

...please excuse me while I join the other clueless people in the clique. ;)

By the way, to the OP I've only been banded 2 years but my experience is if u get hung up on feeling "restricted" u might end up allowing ur band to be too tight. A band that's too tight can eventually cause a slip, malnutrition or worse erosion. I had mine too tight and I'm waiting for my xray (Friday!!!) but I'm hoping I haven't caused too much damage.

::waves:: ur welcome! Lol I'm sorry but I can't help but be a ball buster when I read people getting all uppity and butt-hurt on a public forum. U reacted to a woman trying to help and got all nastified. Check yourself girl! We're all here to support each other!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
