Just Got Banded-Still Hospitalized

Well I just got banded about 3pm yesterday. The procedure took about 3 hours, and I'm still in a fair amount if pain. But it turns out I had a hernia and they had to repair that too, so I'm not quite sure where the pain is coming for.

When I awoke in Recovery is where I felt the most amount of pain. But I think what it was was all the gas that was inside me. It was making me feel like I couldn't breathe, even though i was getting good oxygen. So I "struggled" to take deep breathes of air, and this created more pain with my lesions.

So they provided me medicine for the gas and pain- not sure what they were called because I was out of it- and u feel much better not. It mainly just aches when I roll over to get out of bed, but it does get easier with time.

The more gas I pass- the better as well.

Well tomorrow is my GI test to see if I can leave this place. Hope I can keep it down since all I've had this far was some ice chips.

Keep ya updated ...

I was banded Wednesday & doc wanted me to stay since it was later in the afternoon. No additional tests just routine vitals. Just one dose of Tylenol in hospital & one dose at home.

The gas was bad' date=' but it is relieving.

I can't get a deep breath in, but I have exercises to do.

I am walking & resting... but I am kinda bored already. LOL[/quote']

I'm so jealous'

Do you guys have problem sitting down and getting up? Ir hurts quite but to get up. Also I can feel gas circulating in my stomach and making noises.

I still have some trouble getting up more than anything. I kinda walk hunched over for a minute til I get it moving.

Yep same here and the stomach feels tight.

I got my best sleep propped up on the love seat. For me that's an old asthma trick. Then I just had to swing my legs around. Then I had a good base with my legs and the arm of the love seat.

The bed is definitely a lot harder.

I couldn't lay down when I got home yesterday, so I slept sitting up on the couch recliner. But last night I true to lay down on my right side (port is on the left) and was able to sleep, but needed help to get up. That hurts more than anything.

I can't sit on my couch :( I keep sinking in and can't get up. So I sit in a hard dining room table chair, or I sleep in my bed with pillows propped all around me

I got banded today as well.... I was expecting to be in tremendous pain, but i honestly can say I in little to know pain at all besides shoulder pain because of the Gas... My doctor was Dr. Choi in Fort lauderdale florida. I hope you pain goes away. Best of luck to my new banded forum friends!!!!

Thank you for asking. I was also going to ask about the hernias because a few ppl had them repaired. Is this something that they found during the procedure for those of you that had the repair?

Most people have a hyatial hernia, happens from being overweight no extra problems/pain or time in the hosp, they fix it when they band u :)

I also got banded yesterday @ 7:30 and was home at 4. I have awful pain in my chest & shoulders, but its getting better. I am not hungry at all. I have to force any pudding or yogurt. Im good w/ fluids. Good luck to.you
