Update from Nebraska, yes, the middle of the country is where I live. I'm a week out (May 18th) and feeling GREAT!!! I had a bit of congestion for a few days but used a pillow against my stomach when I had to cough and that was a life saver! I also broke out in hives all over my belly and breasts but that is almost gone-Yeah! I'm 21 lbs lighter than my heaviest recorded weight which was on May 5th and 8 lbs lighter than my surgery date.

I am on pureed food for another 2 weeks and then get to move to soft foods. I haven't been hungry or even have any cravings, praise God. I have been walking about 20 minutes 2 times a day and my husband's dog loves to go with me. I can hardly wait to start riding my bike again and I really want to start some yoga.

Great job to all who have done well-keep going and best wishes to the few that are left for the month! We are almost to the end!

I'm in Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley. I was banded on the 15th and am so sick of pureed foods!!! My doc said I could go to "soft foods" a little early but I am so afraid to screw this thing up.

Any others from Virginia out there?

Any tips on diet advancing from those of you who are doing it?

I had not quiet so easy a time. They had a tough time getting me breathing and then I was so sensitive to the meds that I was hallucinating...quite entertaining I guess. My incision areas and the port area burns when I move and I've got a lot of gas pain. More today than yesterday. Guess it's moving..but I also think I have some gas in my stomach from the protein.

Other than that I feel pretty good. I would do it again in a second. So, none of you hesitate if you're on the edge.

I am not hungry at all...weird since I haven't had an real food for since Monday and that was just liquids. I keep wondering when I'll feel hungry again....not that I miss it or anything!

Hi everyone,

I'm got back home last night late (Fri 19 May) and I am doing fine. My husband said the surgery only took 20 minutes! Wow!

The only problems I have had was the day after the surgery, after we took a walk at the mall in Monterrey, we went back to the room and I felt so tired and achey and having chills..... like having the flu. I think that I walked too much and eaten too much broth. After sleeping, I was better. I've been nauseous a couple of times on the trip home, but I think that may have been low blood sugar... not enough protein. Today, I'm feeling better. My husband made me some great soup and I'm feeling stronger today.

I have a question for everyone........ did anyone else gain weight during your surgery period? I weighed myself this morning, and I had gained like 4 or 5 lbs since I left for Monterrey....... even after 2 days of not eating anything except liquids! Just wondered about everyone else.

Thanks,

Cathy

Yeah, that happened to me too - I didn't gain, but I was at a stand-still for the first week, then I lost all that fluid. Remember, this is the healing phase, not the weight-loss phase. L et yourself heal!

Isn't it amazing! What an awesome tool! I had surgery 2 weeks ago and have lost 14 since surgery. I had my post-op check-up yesterday and got the go-ahead to start on soft foods. I was soooo nervous! Afraid I would over-eat, not chew good enough, etc., but I must've did ok. I couldn't believe how full I felt so quickly - and i have NO restriction at all yet! Imagine what I'll be like in 4 weeks when I get my first fill!

My incisions are healing up great, in fact the nurse that checked me in said that mine looked better than her's did and she had surgery 3 yrs ago. I guess I am blessed with good skin?

Keep up the great motivation!

I'm just curious where all the May bandsters live. I know dasharoo and Hippo's Hope and I are from Idaho. HH and I had dinner with a group of fello bandsters on Monday. If you are close to someone else, get together! It is a really great way to keep on track, get advice and get/give encouragement.

Any other May Bandster from Idaho - particularly the Treasure Valley area?

I'm in Minnesota.

Okay so the time is really here, and I have just gotten the nervous excitment. For those of you who were aware of the issues of me letting my family know, I told them last night in an email. This was going to be the only way I was going to be able to get out all the factual information without anyone interrupting me. Anyway, I have had my sister running interference for me, but so far may parents are excited for me, just nervous about me going to Mexico to have it done.

Anyway, I am feeling somewhat overwhelemd at the moment because of all the things that I still feel like I have to get done before I fly out SUnday morning. Reading everyones posts have been helpful, but I am still somewhat Freaking out...but in a good way. I could only imagine what would happen if someone took my vitals right now. Anyway, glad to know all are healing well.

I was banded on Tues. 5/23. My surgery was at 8am and I went home about 5pm. I was suprised at how little pain there was. I have had 4 hernia operations and I thought it would be similar to that, but it wasn't. This was much less painful, more like uncomfortable than painfull. My belly is still swollen and I am belching a lot. I do have the gas pain up under my left collorbone. Sometimes it is there and sometimes is isn't...That has given me more pain than the surgery sites. I was out of the house some yesterday and the only thing that bothered me was that my bra goes right across one of my incisions. It started getting sore after a couple of hours. I'm going back to my part time job tonight. I mainly answer the phone for a car dealership. I think I will be OK with that. I do not feel very hungry yet, i don't know if that will change as the swelling goes down. I hope not. I'm trying to figure out what to take to work with me tonight to "eat". Maybe some jello. Good luck to the Mayer's left to get banded this month. I feel like I have had a new start since Tues.

I had my band done on 5/23.....was in my room at 7pm. The first night I had a lot of discomfort but not terrible pain.....I think the pain meds kept it all under control.

I was discharged the next day and pretty much slept Wednesday and Thursday on the sofa. It only hurt to get up or down from a position. I made myself a shake this morning.....lowfat milk, an egg and a few frozen strawberries. I had about 1/2 cups worth as my breakfast. Funny, because I still don't really have any appetite. HOpe that lasts for a while! I tolerated the shake very well....and I had 1/2 cup of a creamed soup for lunch. So far, so good. Robin (ralheit) sent me a lovely basket of flowers.....with 2 turtles inside. Ya know...the turtle wins the race....LOL

She is so sweet, her surgery was March 7th and she is doing great...I big encouragement for those of us behind her.

I too seemed to gain wt after the surgery...I was up 6lbs....it must be water rentention...as today I was down 4 lbs...yippee.

I guess all went as well as it should....as I didn't have terrible nausea or any other problems....so now it is just a matter of recouping and recovering...then on to a slimmer ME. I do plan on following all the rules....lifestyle changes, excersise ect.....I came this far to succeed...not to fail.

Hoping us May bandsters will be all having great success. Remember...November will be our 6 month anniversary.....we will all need to check in for those wonderful updates!

big hugs and smiles....
