Here's hoping all of you guys banded so far this month are doing well in your early journey to good health and meeting your weight-loss goals!

God BLess!

3loves- I'm all stocked up on the liquids and have begun my two weeks of "torture"  he he! I think it will go pretty fast. Hey... I think thats the perfect excuse not to have to clean up!!! Have a safe trip!

Stitchy and Missnikki and dawner119.. glad to hear from you post-surgery... Congrats on being banded!

You Rock!

:peace: :peace: :peace: :peace: :peace:

Welcome jewels411! Congrats on your impending band! Only a few days away, how exciting!!

Scout - sounds like you are well prepared both mentally and physically... You got all the supplies, you are ready to roll!!! You are NOT going to "buy the farm" on the table? What would you even do with a farm? He He! Don't worry we all have those thoughts... its perfectly normal.. Good Luck and God Bless! We'll be thinking about you! Please report back when you can!

Happy Mothers Day to all you Mom's out there!

I was banded on May 4, 2006 by Dr. Felix Spiegel. Dr. Spiegel was fantastic. I am doing great. Came home in about 4 hours, walked around and slept. Hope everyone else is doing fine.

I solicit your prayers (I admit to some weird, irrational fears about 'buying the farm' on the table) and will certainly pray for you all. I can't wait to report in. I'll be spending the night in the hospital on Monday and home on Tuesday. Gonna get stocked up on Gas X, stool softener, broths, jello, heating pad, mild tea, chewable calcium, Flintstone vitamins and protein drinks...did I forget anything? You folks are the best support and inspiration! Many thanks for making this forum such a great place.

Scout - you most certainly have my prayers as does everyone else about to be banded. I know the prayers of others helped get me through my surgery this past Tuesday.

As for supplies - I wanted to call notice to the heating pad... EVERYONE should have a heating pad - I wish I had one, as do the other women who had the surgery with me this week. It would have made things feel so much better, more comfortable. None of us had accute pain, but we all were very sore and heat would have worked wonders. I had a backache the first day and a half, and now my front aches some. Again, nothing horrible, but a heating pad would be nice.

In addition to the Gas-X, try to grab some Maalox, as the Gas-X didn't seem to help everyone. A combo of the Maalox and the Gas-X seemed to help better.

2 last pieces of advice: First: the people who give this advice are not kidding...DO NOT eat a heavy meal (or even a moderately heavy meal) the night before surgery, if you can keep it as close to liquid as possible you'll make your post surgical time so much easier. Second is make sure you get up and walk, walk, walk around the hospital as soon as possible and as much as possible. I haven't walked so much in I don't know how long. It makes me feel soooo much better when I walk. And take LOTS of deep breaths. It's weird, but it works. It think I need to get up and walk now, actually!

Best of luck to all you guys getting banded the rest of this month... anyone please feel free to PM me if you have specific questions - I'm not shy and I don't mind sharing information, so feel free to be as candid as you are curious.

Your Band-Sister, Dawn

No, I do not feel nauseated. It is probably the gas still in your system. I walked a lot and took Gas-X to get the gas out.

Banded May 4 by Dr. Flex Spiegel

I am a May Bandster. I was banded on May 4, 2006. I am doing great. I am back at work.

Dr. Flex Speigel Houston, Texas

lululacy

Starting 193 lbs

Present 185 lbs

Goal 140 lbs

Welcome Lululacy! Glad to hear that you are doing so well after your surgery! Congrats!

Dawn - thanks for the tip on the heating pad, I've added it to my shopping list! Glad to see that you are doing well!

I second the heating pad recommendation. I did not have much pain but I think it helped with the soreness and swelling. I found the heat to be very comforting.

I am 11 days out and am doing great. My weight loss has stalled a bit in the past couple of days but my doc says thats to be expected until I get a fill. I get my first fill May 30. Until then I am munching right along on my mushies.

Hi Scout and anyone else about to be banded -

I woudl suggest you also add something like Chloraseptic Throal Spray to your list of things to buy.

I got a tickly in my throat a few days post op , started coughing and OH THE PAIN! :omg:

Luckily we had Chloraseptic spary up stairs and a few sprays of that numbed my throat and solved the problem.

It's happened a couple of times since so I keep the spray handy.

ok on the way to the hospital, in about a 1/2 hour filling nervous and excited. Iwill be in band land soon. All those who choose could say alittle prayer, for a quick surgery and recovery. Thanks for all the good wishes, i have lost 22 pounds on my 10 days of liquid. I'm on my way.

Hi all. I will be joing all you "May bandsters" soon. I am having my

surgery on May 17th in Dalton Ga, Dr. Jamie Ponce.:clap2: Thanks to all of you on all of your helpful advice, I have really learned alot by reading all the advice that everyone is offering. Just please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I will keep you informed on my progress. Just one question. How do you get the weight progress tickers that is at the bottom of everyone's posts?:help: Thanks and may God bless all of you. :gluck:

Glad to hear everyone is doing so great, and great advice too, thank-you! I get so excited listening to all you guys leaving for surgery and coming back from surgery. It's hard to keep track of everyone! I'm starting my second of 3 weeks opti-fast, Just trying not to think about, I leave the room when my family eats! Oh well. wont be long now. YaHoo!!!! Saying prayers for Scout, RmichaelsAZ, MarcyD. Best Wishes on Monday.
