May 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

Good luck to all those being banded this week! You are doing such a good thing for yourselves!

It is day 6 post surgery for me. I am doing awesome. I had my first social meal with my my husbands family this morning for Breakfast. It went great. I was a bit horrified to watch them all shoveling food in like it was a race. I sat and slowly sipped my yogurt and enjoyed the taste and tesxture in my mouth. I am learning to really enjoy the experience of food not just eating as much as I can as fast as I can.

I still continue to have no pain. I even woke up on my stomach this morning!! I am going back to work tomorrow and am looking forward to getting out of the house.

I had my first NSV today! I put on some capri pants I wore a few weeks ago and they no loonger dig into my gut. That's not the best part though.... I put on some sandals that I always wear and they were a bit loose. I have a pair of Doc Marten sandals that I love but have been too tight since I bought them so I thought hey, what the heck? I tried them on and they fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG! I can't tell you how thrilled I am!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

Hi All,

Well, I'm checking in. I am still feeling fairly good. My energy level has definately gone down the last couple of days. I still havn't gotten over 1000 calories in a day yet. Maybe that's why. I am making sure I get plenty of Protein though. I really like FitDay.com. It is keeping me accountable to myself!

I'm still battling a bit of head hunger. It's probably a good thing though, otherwise I might get even less calories in. Yesterday the leftover pizza in my fridge finally got to me. I was heating up the last two slices for my son (to get rid of the temptation once and for all) when, temptation overcame me and I attempted a "chew and spit." Just to get a little taste.:rolleyes

Anyway, I ended up with a crumb in my throat which started me coughing and swearing and crying! To say the least, I LEARNED MY LESSON!!

Last night my family had meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner - another one of my favorites. Today, those leftovers were also beconing. So, I heated up the potatoes, shoved them in the blender with some milk, put in a hunk of meatloaf and blended the whole thing up nice and smooth. I then put it in a sauce pan, melted some velveeta in it and I have a new taste sensation --CHEESY POTATO MEATLOAF Soup. Do you think Campbells might be interested?

Angie71 - Welcome to bandland!

MarianneTN - Good luck to you on Tuesday!

Good luck to all the others who will be banded this week as well!

Hippo's Hope - are you out there? How are you feeling/doing?

Hi, I am hoping to join your May group, just waiting on word from my insurance co. I have done a nutrition consult, psych consult, blood work, attended a information and support meeting, and had my PCP, gyno and podiatrist send in letters. I need to see if my insurance, Oxford Liberty, will approve (I am on the border). Then, I'll set my date, do the upper GI, cardio and abdominal sono. Think I can still make it for May? I sure hope so, so I'll linger here with you all!

And Linda, that sounds sounds yummy!

Congratulations to all who've taken the plunge :clap2:

This thread has gotten long, and I can't remember who is being banded this week. I should have kept a list. Darn.

Anyway, I am on Tuesday, May 9. Who else? :)

Hi All,

3Loves - Thanks so much for the list - it's much easier to keep it straight now!

Good luck all of you who are getting banded this week. I will be one week post-op tomorrow and I really feel pretty good. I actually got in almost 100 calories today and all my protein-WOOHOO.

I did Weight Watchers for my pre-diet and I think I am going to try to continue to take in the minimum number of points allowed in that program. That is about 1400 calories a day for me. I need some kind of guide line to follow for a while that will help me with food perameters.

Thanks for posting the list! Now I can keep it straight who to pray for this week! Tomorrow will mark one week for me as well. I'm getting better and stronger each day. I still need to take in more calories and Protein, but I'm working at it! Go May Bandsters!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
