May 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

Well, I just finished a yogurt smoothie but...DAMN I WANT A PORK CHOP!!!

I'm salivating to prove it. Not that I'm hungry though, my new band does take care of that -- but not the head hunger! Oh well! My scale will love me in the morning.:ermm

Okay, this is how pathetic I am. After all this talk about meat, I was making steak and fixins for my kiddos and warming up my egg drop Soup. I pick up some meat/fat drippings, sucked the flavor out and spit it in the sink! I will now do the walk of shame.........................

Since I'm on the "blended soup" phase......my hubby made chicken in the crockpot today. I measured out 4 oz, added some Water and spices, put in in my magic bullet and whallah! cream of chicken Soup. And it made me feel like I was eating with the family. And it tasted so good :hungry: like I was really eating meat.:P That with a half cup of Tomato Soup and a SF popsicle for desert -----very satisfying.:clap2:

Just checking in. I just finished some canned (smashed up) chicken mixed with ranch dressing for dinner and it seemed to go down okay. I had applesauce for Breakfast and carrot Soup with cottage cheese for lunch. It is still a struggle for me to get my Water in. Now that I am supposed to be dividing my eating into three meals a day, drinking seems to be even harder. I know I have to wait a couple of hours after eating and it seems that I would have to really guzzle the Water to get in enough before next meal. Anyone else having this problem?

LindaV, I laughed at your little pizza excursion. We had a family meal Sunday where I did the same thing. I wanted to taste some chicken/spinach/feta cheese sausage that was being served, so I set my fruit smoothie aside and took the tiniest taste of sausage, chewed about four times and then 'gracefully' spit it into my napkin. I didn't feel guilty, because I didn't even come close to swallowing it but it still gave me the satisfaction of seeing what they tasted like.

Have you been exercising, LindaV? I have not. I know that with the three procedures I had done, my doctor said I would heal up more slowly and I can tell by reading other's posts that I have not been as active. Also, since I don't have a young family to take care of, I am able to relax more than the average bandster. I am starting to wonder if that is all a good thing. In a way, it is great because I can rest whenever I need to. On the other hand, I don't seem to be pushing myself much.

Hope

:P I will be banded Monday, May 15th at the University of Virginia by Dr. Bruce Schirmer. I am getting so nervous and excited. I am so glad I found this forum!

Mvpo8961 - Thanks for putting the list together. It is nice to see who is getting done when and keeping them in our thoughts and prayers.

CLOE - I am to meet Dr. C. right after he finishes surgery at the Foothills on Wednesday. When do you fly in? I have been on Optifast for 6 days. The stuff isn't really bad...Marie said a could add some strawberries to the vanilla (not many though). It sure makes a difference. I didn't get the chocolate flavoured one as I don't like chocolate other than a milk chocolate bar.

What is a Magic Bullet?

Hope

It's the coolest little blender. Great for blending up protien drinks and purreying (sp?) stuff. Here's a link to one on ebay.....

Mines a knock off, I got it for $22 at a local closeout store, but man do I love it! I heard about them on the bariatriceating.com forum. I can see how I could really get attached to it.:biggrin1:

What is a Magic Bullet?

A Magic Bullet is a small "personal" blender to make individual smoothies or shakes. When you are finished blending, the mix container becomes your glass to eat/drink from. It does a lot more but that's the main purpose.

Michelle, I am right there with you. I have never had surgery before and am wondering about the pain. Do you plan to stay overnight?:phanvan :phanvan

I have my 1-week post-op appointment tomorrow afternoon. I'm not really sure what it's for. I'm guessing they'll grab the nearest doctor, s/he will take a gander at my belly, ask me if I feel awful, and then send me home. Reeeaaaall productive. I'll probably spend more time in the waiting room than with a doctor.

Don't mind me. I'm mopey because I'm going back to work tomorrow, and I don't want to! Nobody except my boss knows I had surgery so I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of BS-ing tomorrow. And then I have to explain why all of a sudden I'm drinking these Protein drinks and eating broth. I don't want to lie but I don't want to tell the truth either. Plus I still have the odd knife-in-the-belly twinge and those are hard to play off. Not looking forward to it. :P

Pity Party, please come to the hostess stand. Your table is ready.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
