Hi fellow October bandsters!! I had my surgery on Oct 3rd 2012' date=' I am still recovering and in alot of pain! I was at the ER last night with terrible pain on my left side! After blood test and xrays they said I have pleurisy which is when the diaphragm is inflamed and it rubs the lining on your lungs. So the gave me a dose of morphine and motrin and gave me extra perscription for Loratab! Every time i take a deep breath on my left side I feel this intense sharp stabbing pain.!! Today its a little better but it is still uncomfortable!! But the positive way of thinking is that I have lost 17 pounds since I started my 2 week pre op diet. And 35 since I started my 6 mo pcp visits with my doc! Thanks for listening[/quote']

If it doesn't get better soon, follow up! I was told that my Pulmonary Embolism was just Pleurisy and sent home twice then called back the next day saying get here asap, and that the morning people went over my ct scans and found out that it was a clot instead and I ended up being in the hospital for 2 weeks! Pretty dangerous! Note that this wasn't in any way band related, but ring... Nuvaring. I actually have my 6 month check up tomorrow and a ct scan to get an all clear and be off my blood thinner, soooo excited! Then surgery on Friday!

They wouldn't even do a CT scan. They said because Im young (29) it isnt necessary. it is so freaking soooore! I have a 3 year old and its difficult to have patience for her and have this pain. My post op is friday if its still there i am demanding a CT scan.. all they did at ER is prescribe me more pain meds and consult with my weight loss surgeon about what it could be. thank you for sharing this it make me not feel so alone!!

I was 22 when I got mine! Be persistent! You know when something isn't right! I got treated like a whiney hypochondriac. But in the end, the hospital had to pay for the night shift not listening to me... They took an enormous chunk from my bill (after trying to charge me the full amount.... HA! I told them to shove it.). I wish you the best of luck and I do really hope that yours is really what they say, I'm pretty sure that Pleurisy isn't life threatening like a PE, not all ERs are ridiculous like the one I had so I'm sure you'll be fine. Just get lots of rest. I wouldn't even consider exerting yourself until you make a full recovery. <3 keep us informed!

Gotta love that morphine though, right? I was so uncomfortable in my shoulders and back from gas that I wish I could have had morphine.

Hello Fam!!! I have a question... on your profile, on the side list, does the "TRACKERS" feature work for anyone??? I just signed up on this site a couple days ago and I have not been able to see/use this feature. I'm getting an error message that says I am not permitted to use it.

Wow that is not anything fun to go through while recovering. Praying that it goes away quickly and that you can enjoy the new you soon. Good job on the weight loss already.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
