I Need Some Fellow Bandsters Opinions!

Just curiously' date=' are you diabetic? Often times the carbs are more concerning than the actual sugar content as carbs convert to sugar (which I'm sure you know), but nevertheless, my personal favorite Protein powders are those made by unjury. (unjury.com) Although they are a bit expensive, 1 scoop (mixed with 8 oz. skim milk), yields 21 g. Protein, 4 g. carbs and 3 g. sugar. Can't beat that! The shakes are absolutely delicious. My favorites are the chocolate Splendor and the Vanilla.[/quote']

Nope, not diabetic, just a freak about sugar ha ha : ) I don't worry about the sugar in fruits or anything like that.

I actually bought some mix that has 2g per serving, and then I added it to the unsweetened almond milk so it's just the 2g from the powder. Not bad!

Thanks everyone!

WOW, 20yo, down 75lbs I'm proud of you for your concern about sugar!!!

Keep up the great job your doing!

I think converting sugar grs to tsps is

3.94 gr = 1tsp. So Slimfast has over 5 tsps of sugar, geesh!

5 mths 30lbs.averages to 6lbs a month. That is wonderful!!! On average people are to lose 1-2 lbs per week, you're right there. Take "only" out of your vocabulary . Say, I'm 5mths out and have lost 30 lbs. (Be proud of yourself). Then say, what's working for you?

I'm proud of you!!!!

Ok rant over, lol

I guess my question is...why do you want to drink shakes? Why not eat a more well balanced meal? I've found that the processed foods tend to have either lots of sugar and/or sodium. Just curious.

I will be taking a high Protein Shake along with me for Breakfast on work days.

I can not eat breakfast until around 10am and I'm not banded yet. It's impossible to stop and have breakfast, but I can drink it.

Not sure why you say only 30 pounds like it's a bad thing girl, that's awesome! I'm track on my fitness pal on my iPhone for sure. And I just make sure to stay at or under 1,000 calories every day. That's really about it! Protein first, VERY little sugar, and I try to avoid a lot of carbs.

Keep up the good work, you are doing fine!

I work full time and am a full time college student, so sometimes that's about all I have time for ha ha. I usually only drink one shake a day, just liked to know what my options were : )

Well, you are talking about milk sugar. I wonder also why you are doing shakes after seven months. I think 22 grams is too much sugar. Four grams is approximately 1 teaspoon I think. Would you want to put that much sugar in your system all at once? Also how many carbs are you taking in each day? You might want to do some more research. Seventy five lbs is great, keep up the good work.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
