Hi everyone, my name is Monica. I will become a new bandster on tomorrow August 15th with Dr. Vincent Lusco of Lou. KY. My Highest weight was 445 and with eating 5x per day and working out at least 4x per week, I dropped down to 395. I've been contemplating weight loss surgery for the last 3 years but hadn't pursued it because of fear. Im 31 y.o. and I now fear that if I keep this weight it will most definitely shorten my life. I have been seeing a nutritionist for the past 4 months and its just plain hard to lose weight. I have been eating like once or twice a day for the past 10 years and I gained a ton of weight. It really didn't help with me doing that after my last child out of 5, c-section, tubal ligation, and the weight just stayed and kept building on. Now Im completely miserable, depressed, and I want my life back. I've been on this pre-op diet for a week and a day now, cheated a couple times but not a big amount of food. I felt bad after cheating but felt better after the scale read 375 yesterday from the 405 on the 3rd. I pray that my story will be a success as many of yours is or will be. Thanks for reading my story and Have a Blessed Day.

Im doing better today than I was 4 days ago. I was really sore, hard to cough or sneeze and when I did it hurt like hell. My incisions were still bleeding through the steri-strips. I only have one incision that leaks through a little but the others seem to be healing pretty good. The doctor saids the strips will come off on their own within a week or two. Today I was able to drive to the store and pick up a couple of things but it seems that my bronchitis has been acting up a little since the surgery but they gave me an inhaler before I left the hospital. It's really easy for me to get out of breath right now. I really appreciate you asking about me.

I'm glad you are doing well. Keep use the inhaler and hopeful in a couple day it will go away.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
