Slipped Band... Will Mexico Reposition?

i just found out my band has slipped. i was banded in april 2008. my surgeon says that even getting completely unfilled will not cause my band to reposition itself on its own. my choices are to pay $9000 to have the band removed or $4000 to have the band repositioned.

i don't want to lose my band.

does anyone know if a surgeon in Mexico will reposition for a much lower cost?

thank you for all your help! and i wish you the BEST of luck with your surgery and after. even with all my problems, i love my lapband and i don't think i'll be able to keep the weight off without it. since i'm already at a reasonable goal weight, i'm not sure if they'd do the sleeve on me only because its so permanent. my starting weight was 213 and after 4 years i'm 118. i'm just worried they won't put another lapband on but at least its adjustable so it will allow me to gain weight if needed.

i'm going to contact WeightLossAgents.com and see what they have to say!!

cool.i didn't realize you were just 118 lbs. that's awesome. my goal is 120lbs.

I think people need to relax about Mexico..I had my surgery as thousands of others, by some of the best surgeons in the world, the one that did my surgery actually teachs other doctors in the US...all I say is...do your research, find a fill doc that will work with you and good luck!!

Dr Kuri is excellent in Mexico. You don't have to have a passport if you travel score Jan 1, 2013.

I second Dr. Kuri in Tijuana. I did much research on him and he is the only one I truly feel safe with. He actually cares for his patients (you can see it through personally talking to him) and his videos on Youtube. After having surgery there about 7 weeks ago (and having my first fill today actually), I can honestly say my suspicious were correct about him.

P.S. He even called me at my hotel at the Marriot just to make sure I'm doing ok and that he is here for me. It was funny....when the van driver stopped by the hospital in the morning to pick up some other people to go to the airport....SURPRISE AGAIN....he shook everyones hands. Purely, a class act.

That said...do your own research as I'm sure there other great LB Doctors in Mexico. To replace a band...it cost me $5500 but he might have a special at the beginning of the year (e.g. $5000). He did this last year and he was strict on only in the month of January.

oops hit the return button too soon. You'll stay with them the night after surgery. they have it all planned out. I found someone on verticalsleevetalk.com having surgery the same day as me. Have you thought about vsg? I did but my bmi is kinda low and I just wanted something i could have control over. Dr Almanza does more vsg's than lb surgeries i think. alot of people on that other forum use him. it's 1000.00 more but you never have to have fills done.

I had my lapband with dr Almanza Dec. 18, no issues at all. Would do it again.
