Hey Rox,

I haven't lost any weight in three days -- banded 8/27. I think (gulp!) I've been eating too few calories -- sometimes not able to eat over 700 or 800 a day. Really trying to make myself eat LOTS of Protein now (protein first!) and try to get up to 1100. I also have NOT been exercising. But I agree with LiveStrong -- the journey doesn't really begin until we get that first fill -- our bodies are still healing! The weight loss we've gotten in the last few weeks is just an appetizer (to use a bad comparison LOL), the meal hasn't even started yet!

I sure hope so! I am continuing to keep the faith and will not give up!!! :o

Roxy, stay strong and you will do great! I was banded 8-7 and got my second fill today. I'm down 30lbs as of today. I don't feel very successful but my doctor was very happy. I'm hard on myself so I should be happy. I know where you are coming from with wanting to see rapid results but we need to keep reminding each other that this is a journey not a Sprint. Keep your head up!

I am so excited! Thursday I get to start semi-soft foods. I am 1 week post-op and down 28 pounds. I found out I was way low on Protein and that's why I was feeling so bad. On the Kashi.com site there is a protein calculator and getting close to that number will make you feel 100% better. Also get enough calories. My doctor said about 1200 and getting close to that helped also. I also recommend Protein Shots. 4 ounces and 42g of whey protein. Watermelon is my favorite. Walmart carries them here.

My only down side is my bowels are messed up. When I have to go its like urgent and it's liquid(sorry for being gross) I hope this passes as food gets incorporated.

Still loving the band!

My doctor told me "liquid in, liquid out." You'll "firm up" when you start having puddings, runny mashed potatoes, etc. Good luck!!!

I too am frustrated! Banded 8/16/12. Got my first fill on 9/26/12. 3cc in 14cc band and don't feel any restriction. Was told I probably wouldn't until the third fill. My next one is scheduled on 10/22/12 and I'm hoping it gives me some restriction. scale is still going down but very, very slowly. Stay the same for 4-5 days at a time and then down 1/2 to 1lb. Don't want to get discouraged but I am.

So I decided to scale my walking down a bit and see if that makes a difference. I use to be a runner. In 2010 I ran 3 half marathons and eventually gave it all up because I never saw a budge on the scale and became so frustrated with all my hard work. Sounds crazy, I know! Maybe I am just one of those that's body holds on for dear life to weight if it burns more calories than it gets a day. I don't know. I sure wish I had the answers!

Hi Roxygirl, I know the feeling I did two half marathons, trained with a running group and did several 3-10k runs in 2012 and managed to GAIN 25 lbs! Ugh. So frustrating, I did realize that I was overeating. Thinking I could eat more because I was running so much, NOT. I'm back training again and this time watching what I eat like a HAWK!! lol

I actually had 4 cc's at surgery and an additional 1 cc on September 25th. I'm down about 9 lbs but I don't feel too much restriction. I feel restriction when I eat apples or Protein such as beef or chicken breasts. I try to eat my meat first so I can get full before my veggies or carbs. I'm going to kick start the exercise and concentrate more on my Water intake. I'm hoping for big numbers soon. Keep the faith!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
